I accept! Nice to add a top level keeper like Tarasenko to the squad and I wasn't going to hold Theodore, so CRD now can take a flyer on him as a rookie keeper.

With that deal, my keepers now look like:
1. Logan Couture (F)
2. Auston Matthews (R)
3. Kyle Connor (R)
4. Vladimir Tarasenko (1)
5. Alexander Radulov (1)
6. Jonathan Huberdeau (2)
7. Alex Pietrangelo (2)
8. Jake Allen (3)
9. Matt Murray (1)

Definitely a bit pricey, but look at guys that went in round 2 last year:
Nazem Kadri, Oscar Klefbom, Jacob Trouba, Robin Lehner, Torey Krug, Rickard Rakell, Ryan Suter

Rakell and Krug are solid, no other potential keepers in that group though.

I'm happy to get a top end guy like Tarasenko who I can now keep for 3+ years, instead of going through an endless cycle of 2nd liners that I'm getting with these mid-round picks.

I think he meant pricey to get a 2nd round pick :/

Tarasenko should have at least warranted a 1st.

Better than the 6th round pick I was offered by another manager...o_O

I dont wanna be a bearer of bad news but it dosent matter what players were picked in round 2, because u are paying for a keeper slot.

The trade is a keeper slot a 2nd and 4th for tarasenko.

Crd does it again, jeez

End of season a 2md is way overpriced for major surgery Tarasenko.
Barkov just got a 5th , I'm amazed crd keeps pulling these things off.
Maybe that's why he keeps winning..

Not surprised the guys who wanted Tarasenko for cheap are obvious jelly for not paying what tarasenko's worth.

Are you guys saying if I traded McDavid for a similar deal I would still have won the deal (considering the way overreaction) we have for the Tarasenko deal? Wow boys ok

And that's why the value wasn't there. In season, VT is easily a 1st+, but pre-draft values are garbage since team's are just looking to pull back some value for players they would otherwise lose. Hence why you're a wizard, Harry.

No, Voldemort. I'd much rather have kept Tarasenko. If you look at my draft picks, I needed to have recovered some back, thus I needed to give up a significant keeper for the recovery.

On the other hand, CaptainBo's keepers have significantly strengthened with this trade. I just don't see what you guys are seeing.

Btw every year I've always disagreed with this "pre draft" value a few of you guys have set, so I don't think we'll ever agree.

I am actually kind of surprised you’re remotely debating this.

Look at the star players that Went for mid round picks in the last few years, pre draft.

The keeper slot is what makes this trade heavily in your favor. Let’s not be silly Crd, you know this, you are the champ for a reason.

The only reason why I am champ is Shea Weber. I am acutally surprised no one have offered anything remotely of value for him.

With how you seem to easily take other GM's to the cleaners in trades, I'm surprised you haven't gotten a significant offer for Weber either....yet.

Why do I care who CRD gets to protect instead of Vlad?

For me, it's a pair of picks to upgrade to Vlad over Carter Hutton, Cam Atkinson or Jake Gardiner. I had one keeper spot where I was keeping a very subpar player and I was willing to pay the price to get a top 10 scorer in the league who is still only 26.

Picking 2 guys drafted in round 2 and 4 last year, this trade could look like this if CRD doesn't make perfect picks:

Atkinson, Trouba and Niskanen for Tarasenko

If he makes perfect picks and finds 2 steals in those rounds, good on him!

Quality over quantity all day boys, thanks for your insight though

How is it missing the point completely? Would you have traded me Gaudreau and a 7th for a 2nd and a 4th? If not, I don't think you have a point.

I just love that Luc keeps chiming in about a keeper slot too when that final keeper spot of mine would have gone to someone like Atkinson, Gardiner or CARTER HUTTON haha and now it's Tarasenko. Well worth a couple of picks for that upgrade.

(Anyways, I recognize it's a risky trade especially since he's coming off an injury but I needed to start picking up some top end keepers if I want to compete in the next couple of years and Tarasenko is definitely one of those. Sometimes you gotta pay to get the guy you want. Either way, I plan to be much more active this year so that's a good thing).
