Donaldson heating up now isn't going to save the season, but better he gets out of the funk and salvages his own personal season so that he can come into 2018 fresh and not have the dreaded "down year" hanging over him.

Yeah, it will take a LOT more than that to save the season -- it will also take a miracle, basically, so it's a long shot, as I mentioned. But yeah, what you mention will probably end up being the more important aspect -- at least for JD.

Yeah but guys Osuna shouldnt be a closer. He is terrible and they are just stretching his arm.

Osuna to the rotation because he doesn't have "it" to be a closer.

Stroman to the pen because he's too short to start and his flaky, chip-on-his-shoulder personality better fits as part of the quirky fraternity of closers.

Everybody wins! :sarcasm:

We need to play more AAA teams ;)

There's a LOT of parity in the league right now. Even most of the weak teams, or teams with the worst records, really aren't that bad if you look at their lineup. The White Sox's issue has been starting pitching, but the rest of their lineup isn't half bad, really.

What the heck happened? I went to give my kid a bath and come back to this?

This is pretty much every game where the Jays get down early. Bunch of scrubs come in out of the pen and pour gas on the fire.

Jays should be giving more guys opportunities and looking for the next Danny Barnes rather than recycling garbage.

Don't let the fact that Valdez is a gas can distract you from the fact that Carrera has the baseball IQ of a walnut.

At least he was better than Valdez.

Most pitchers are.

According to Fangraphs, this game just pushed Valdez up over 20 IP with the Jays for this season. His ERA for this season (which includes his time with the A's until Fangraphs and B-R update for tonight's action) would make him only the 6th worst starter for the Jays over the last 20 years when you set a threshold of >30 IP.

Ahead of him on the suckiness hall of fame are (in ascending order of pudridity):

Chien-Ming Wang
Luis Andujar
Pete Munro
Brad Mills
Mike Smith

and sitting right below Valdez is the ever popular Dana Eveland.

Totally agree. They should see what they have pitching to MLB batters.

Wow more hits ROFL
