Throw in a .283 .360 .484 .845 slashline that adds up to a 129 OPS+ and am I the only one who thinks lefty CFer Fred Lynn should be in the HoF?

Originally drafted by the evil empire.

Fred Lynn was my favorite player but like Nomar & Barry Pederson he just couldn't sustain early greatness

I am a huge HOF guy - I've made up top 10 pre war, Post war, been to copperstown several times but he's not a HOF

I have no problem people telling me here I don't know hockey but baseball

I play in an APBA league for 40 years and was studying the Pirates OF earlier today- McCutchen Marte & Polanco

Yes I'm sick

You may be right, but with a resume' that includes MVP, Rookie of the Year, 9x All-Star, 4x Gold Glove, Batting Title, ALCS MVP, AS MVP, he had his moments.

No this is face to face table game - I started playing in it at 15

90% are same guys

We hang around - golf, families... crazy stuff

I'm going with one of the guys next Saturday to Manchester NH to watch NCAA hockey

Flyers game another bud went with me - he was in a rotation with John Tudor as a teen and probably better before he blew his arm out

It started back in mid 70's and we are still at it

I kid you not Hank Aaron was playing at the time - I had Willie mcCovey on my first team along with Buddy Bell Dwight Evans and Don Baylor

The first rookie draft went Lynn Rice Eckersley Gary Carter

We go to away games and Spring Training in Florida & Arizona

We got doctors, mailman, pharmacists, business owners, teachers, coaches

Guys who played minor league ball and others who've been featured in SI

We've hung out with everyone from Terry Cooney to Sparky Anderson at spring training

From Fantasyfest in Key West to Negalis in Mexico we've played that game

We met Koufax and Ozzie and golfed with Orosco

All because of a group of teenagers playing straromatic and APBA

I've played both the PC game and board game for Stratomatic baseball-- For the PC I would say the baseball is out of this world. I love it. Not sure of the others. Board game for football and hockey are a load of fun, but not as fun if you do it solo.

Hopefully this turns out to be a big nothing.

An injury-plagued spring for the Boston Red Sox starting rotation could be getting worse.

Drew Pomeranz left Sunday's Grapefruit League game with the Minnesota Twins early with soreness in his right triceps. The team called the move a precautionary one.

Pomeranz, 28, threw 47 pitches during the game over two innings. He surrendered three runs on two hits, struck out a batter and walked three.

After the game, Pomeranz played down injury concerns.

“I told the trainers in between that inning, went back out and it stayed tight the whole time," Pomeranz told reporters. "Nothing crazy. Just a little triceps tightness. I think my workloads have been a little higher this week. Who knows. I threw that second inning and it didn’t really loosen up. We just decided to call it quits. I could’ve thrown one more but it’s still the second start and we’ll give it a little rest.â€

Pomeranz is heading into his seventh MLB campaign and first full season with the Red Sox. He was acquired last summer from the San Diego Padres for top pitching prospect Anderson Espinoza. The team discovered afterwards that Padres general manager A.J. Preller had withheld pertinent medical information from the Red Sox prior to the deal. Commissioner Rob Manfred allowed the Red Sox the opportunity to rescind the trade, but the team declined the offer.

Pomeranz went 3-5 in 13 starts for the American League East champions last year with an earned run average of 4.59 and a WHIP of 1.369 over 68.2 innings pitched.

If he were to join David Price on the disabled list to start the season, 10-year vet Kyle Kendrick could be next in line for the Red Sox rotation.

The good news is April usually has multi open dates- I'll check out but often teams can get away with a 4 man rotation early on

Wait....in his right triceps? I imagine that's a misprint

Triceps tightness isn't a great sign for somebody who was getting injections and elbow maintenance last year. Wouldn't shock me if he needs TJ sometime soon. That would be unfortunate

I actually think he's a very good pitcher when going right....but Giving up Espinoza is gonna sting if he pomeranz misses major time down the road. That trade was made with the present and immediate future in mind and he did help them get into the playoffs (Sean O'Sullivan is bad). I thought it could be justified at the time...but in hindsight they really should have killed the deal when given the chance

I was watching the game actually on the phone chatting with another HF member about something else and we both had game on and stopped conversation when the camera went to Pomoranz with the trainer manager and pitching coach. It was his left arm they were checking - I speculated forearm but he was doing something with fingers likely a simple diagnostic

I'm in the camp he's good if healthy

Thanks, I figured that may have been the case

I think you'll be hard pressed to find a bigger Sandoval hater than me but he is tearing the cover off of the ball right now. Guy might have pride. If this is who he will be I will gladly eat crow, sign me up for this Sandoval

He will never work out. Dumb trade.
Agreed. I have Mookie ranked 3rd in my pre-draft rankings keeper league behind only Trout and Arenado. I don't want to take a pitcher in the first round of the first year of a keeper league. Is that too high? Am I crazy?

No it is not too high imo

Also thornburg is starting on the DL. I'm still fine with the deal but every time they trade for a reliever....

Edit: look out for Marco Hernandez this year, he apparently added muscle (iirc) and he's been smoking the ball this spring

I agree, he was one of my favorite players as a kid as well. I loved that late 70's team. With Rice, Lynn, Evans, Fisk, and old man Yastrzemski.

I could make a much better case for Evans than I could for Freddy in the Hall of Fame, and actually think he should have made it. But at least Lynn had a cameo role on Fantasy Island.

Do you guys play Out of the Park? it's pretty exceptional, but kind of overwhelming. I love to play some of the historic leagues from my youth and see how many World Series I can get the Sox in the 70s and 80s. Should have been a few in real life!!

Not a fan of keeping Leon and Vazquez on the MLB roster. Seems like a one or the other type player to me, as they both suck with the bat (let's be serious, the Leon we saw last year is not who he is as a player).

Their bullpen also right now concerns me. Has the potential to be lights out once Thornburg is back, and is Carson Smith can get healthy.

What's the deal with Carlos Quinten? He's still in camp, are they actually planning on keeping him on the MLB roster?
