Are they as good as Trinidad & Tobago? That team impressed me at the Junior Goodwill Games.

From what I could find... Kings July 1st transactions since 2002:

2016: Agreed to terms with G goaltender Jeff Zatkoff on a two-year contract and D Zach Trotman, C Michael Latta and D Tom Gilbert on one-year contracts.

2014: Signed RW Adam Cracknell and LW David Van der Gulik to one-year contracts. Re-signed D Jeff Schultz to a two-year contract.

2008: Acquired defenseman Denis Gauthier and a 2010 second-round pick from the Philadelphia Flyers for defenseman Patrik Hersley and left wing Ned Lukacevic.

My favorite memory of Gauthier was at a Tip-a-King and they announced a signed Avery jersey. Gautheir laughed and then said "wow, cut the cord already". I busted up laughing so hard at that. Only good thing I remember about him.

While that is depressing I hope that Petersen develops very quickly and becomes NHL ready asap, I think it's safe to say JQ can't be relied upon too heavily, and he's one more serious injury away from having his career be in jeopardy. Goalies like him don't last too long, and since his technical game is average, he's gotta hope his body stays strong or he's in dangerous waters. Hopefully he has a healthy year.

Rosen's and Hoven's credibility are on the line today, especially Hoven. I'm going through his Twitter and seems to come off in a way that he's backtracking from the things he said about Thornton. He seems really childish, even arguing with people who are calling him out on it. We will see what happens, the only reason I'm actually a little hopeful is because Rosen seemed really confident about Thornton... And we all know Rosen seems stoic every moment.. So yeah let's see.

He speaks with a certainty and hedges at the same time. Argues with people who call him out and reminds people when he's right.

He does have sources. I will give him that. But his clickbait approach ("buckle up" with no additional info; "big news to be announced tomorrow" and the news is a podcast he's participating in) has caused me to unfollow him.

He also works closely/coinciding with Bernstein, and I can't stand him at all.

Also not a fan of one of his contributors, who has the same personality without the credibility.

Wow, Hoven actually saying he was misquoted when he blatantly said Thornton would be a LA King July 1st right on live radio. Come on man, you can't back track when there's audio proof still available on your site.

You have to have something in the first place in order to lose it.

That's what I found to be very unprofessional of him, attacking people who pointed that out. He pretty much said to the people who had said that they can't read properly. Very low-class. I know h will broken a few things, but this guy seems to be very disingenuous, and rude.

All Hoven said in the interview to which I listened was Thornton and Blake are friends and Blake was pursuing him. Hoven also said something along the lines of he thought Thornton would be an LA King on July 1, but other factors could sway him back to San Jose.

The guy has been wrong about plenty of things and he is no insider, but the above was his stated position.

Just remember this:

The Kings are maybe at midfield. I wouldn't expect anything out of the UFA market worthwhile.
