Not saying it won't happen but got to love summer. Hope springs eternal.

Brown has been going to bounce back for three summers or so now. Even watched the guy do a public park workout on YT a couple of summers ago.

I'd love for it to happen but I will be happy if he puts up similar point totals to last season and improves his plus/minus.

Signing Thornton would be awesome.

Brown - Kopitar - Carter
Pearson - Thornton - Toffoli

Pearson-Kopitar-Toffoli
Brown-Thornton-Carter
Mersch-Shore-Lewis
Auger/Clifford/Andreoff-Dowd-Nolan/Brodzinski

With guys like Mersch, Auger, and MacDermid waiver eligible this year, I think Kempe goes back to Ontario.

Roster is old and stale in my opinion and they won't fix that until Brown and one of Andreoff/Nolan/Clifford is gone.

I couldn't care less if we lost Auger on waivers. A player of his caliber (or lack there of) is not worth burying a player like Kempe in the minors

Would rather lose Mersch than Auger. We already know what we're getting with Mersch; Auger not so much.

I just don't see Auger having any future in LA or the NHL for that matter, but really neither guy is worth keeping on the roster over Kempe, especially in a year where we need young players to gain NHL experience

They will risk losing Auger or even Mersch before Kempe isn't on the opening night roster. Barring a horrible camp, he'll be there Opening Night.

MacDermid is the one I think they wouldn't want to risk losing for nothing. He brings an element that is completely lacking amongst defensemen in the system and even on the big club.

I hope Mersch has a good camp and is able to crack the lineup. He'd be good on the power play IMO. If he can't make the NHL now, he probably never will.

He better get some, he's one of the few, if not the only one willing to take punishment in front of the net.

Brown had the 4th most even strength points of any player on the team last year, but was 11th on the team in PP ice time per game.

I asked Mayor and he said the Kings value Auger - so I don't think the goes to Ontario. Mayor seems to think Andreoff gets sent down.

Kings have a few forwards in Auger and Mersch that need to show what they can do or be sent down. Guys like Dowd, Shore, Clifford, Nolan and Lewis are safe - at least from waivers. Andreoff is a toss up. Let's see what happens with Kempe and Brodzinski.

I personally wouldn't be surprised to see one of Clifford or Nolan get traded before camp. They both fill the same role and both have gotten stale over the last few years.

I think Mersch can still be a decent bottom-6 player, but I wouldn't keep him on the roster over Kempe. Unless a freak situation happens Kempe needs to be in the opening night lineup

So then Auger stays over Andreoff and Kempe remains.

Hard to believe Kempe isn't on the roster opening night after hearing that the delay in his call-up to the big club was an issue within management last season under the assumption that current management is the side that wanted him up sooner.

Phaneuf is good--but not #1 d-man good--just like Brown is good but not top-line winger good.

That thread is a dumpster fire of bad opinions about Brown and the Kings but what else is new.

This.

40 points is average 2nd line production. If he got any decent PP time, he would have gotten well over 40. And 40 on the kings is like 45-50 on other teams.

I think a lot of those posters have their warm milk and have mom tuck them in way before the Kings hit the ice at 10pm ET. Maybe if people would stay up and watch some games, their opinion would be different but of course they will just look at how many points he has produced over the last few years and base their wisdom off that.

"Brown is garbage". Very well thought out and logical argument.
