Mathew Barzal on Nolan Patrick: "He reminds me a lot of Joe Thornton with an Anze Kopitar snipe."

IF we got Patrick we could look like this in two years.

Hall Patrick Speers
Zacha McLeod Palmieri
Henrique Zajac Wood
Blandisi Quenneville Lappin

Pray to god our prospects pan out.

I'm at the point where I don't really care if we lose anymore.

I'm not gonna cheer losses, but I don't care anymore.

They aren't making me mad anymore. At least not until October.

Looking good, just need defense. I might put Hall and McLeod together for the speed.

get that high pick. hall, zacha, and severson I think are the only players on this team I consider building blocks, complimentary(potential trade-able pieces) is Palmieri/Henrique--rest should get phased out in 1-2 years/traded.

Schneider I think should just be traded as he should be on a team that is ready to take the next step like the Stars or Jets. Devils can settle for an inferior goalie for the time-being and maybe the expansion draft will help them get a guy like Grubauer who has solid potential.

I know people say Hall won't want to be here in 3 years (which is a long time) if they do make drastic changes like these but why would he want to be here if the team still keeps majority of the same core. The same argument can be used both ways. People also make a big deal about veterans but there's plenty of short term guys like that available in Free Agency like Patrick Sharp, Mark Streit, Oduya, etc.

Who knows maybe the Devils can pull off a lottery win and sign Shattenkirk.

We have been at less than 10% to make the playoffs for a long time now. Every win has been detrimental to the overall good for quite a while.

If the Devils can develop a young, dynamic forward core then *maybe* you can trade Henrique and Palms for defense...I'm not seeing it yet.

Back to trading Schneider again...I can't get behind it. The return probably won't justify it. If he went to Winnipeg, for instance, I'd want Connor and Roslovic and I don't see them doing it.

Don't worry

I don't think we're going to get too many more of them this year. I could see us winning a game that we get absolutely smoked in, kind of like what was our last win to date against the Islanders, to make up for dominating tonight and losing.

Colorado and Arizona are pretty winnable, but I can see us losing one of them at this point.

I have no confidence in us in OT anymore either. It's always something, whether it's a soft goal, a bad penalty that can't be killed, missing a wide open net or two, etc.

Hall needs to end up with at least one shooter/scorer imo. Someone who can at least tap in the freebies that Hall served up at the beginning of the season.

our only competition right now is the red wings. there is no way in hell we're catching the avs, and i doubt we'll catch the yotes

I'm just waiting to see 3 teams jump in front of us via the draft lottery, which will be the final kick in the balls to this abysmal season.

Beau should really be in our plans, if we add scoring (which we will) and he's the RW3 that would be ideal. People get frustrated because the team doesn't score as a whole but he'd be a very good depth piece on a team that does score.

I'm fine with Bennett as well. Bottom 6 RWs next year should be some combo of Bennett/Speers/Noesen/Lappin. Not awful. But we need to get 1 more RW that can produce like a top 6 player to go along with Palmieri.

I wouldn't mind Bennett as a bottom-six RW.

He just might have trouble sticking there because he doesn't really offer much aside from driving corsi 5-on-5. Devils should start trying to rotate him in on the PK, if they have any plans to keep him around. If he can start killing penalties, he'd be a perfect depth forward.

Would allow us to banish DSP to the press box as well since the only thing he has going for him is being able to kill penalties.

I wouldn't mind trading Schneider if the price is right and most importantly, if we're not able to upgrade our blueline with at least one top #4 blueliner. Keeping a player that is holding us back from acquiring legit bluechip prospects shouldn't happen, since we're bottom 5 ATM with him between the pipes.

Anyone is able to kill penalties. The question is, should they, and I think the answer for Beau Bennett is no, he shouldn't. But Bennett can play LW and RW and be a fine contributor at even strength and that's enough to keep a player on the team.

DSP should not play another game for this team past April. He is a sinkhole at ES and offers nothing on the PK that the Devils couldn't get from anyone else. If the Devils had players with better puck skills maybe DSP could last another year, but DSP's puck skills are probably last on a team already lacking in them.
