GDT: 2017 NHL Draft: The waiting is over! The NYR will pick in the first round! Part II

TSN is borderline racist.

Rangers draft a Czech - "he's comparable to Palat!!!"

-Chytil is a center, Palat is a winger.
-Chytil is huge, Palat is average sized
-Chytil played pro in the Czech league, Palat played junior hockey in Canada
-Chytil was projected round 2, Palat went round 7.

They have literally nothing in common outside of nationality. They're just throwing out the first Czech name they could think of.

Rebuild and on the fly are almost counter of each other.

Rebuilds done right will take at least a couples years.

this really pisses me off to no end. I gave them the benefit of a doubt with the andersson pick. I figure our board after the big 2 was Heik, Makar, and Glass so they just chose the BPA after everyone on their board was taken... Both these guys may turn out to be great bottom/middle 6 FWDS and i really hope they do. But at the 21st pick, on a team starved for high end talent to not take Kostin who is a 6'3 offensive beast with tremendous potential really burns my ass.
I have no idea what the end game is here, maybe they figure they are gonna make a run a tavares at UFA. I dunno where this team expects to get high end talent from if the don't draft it at FWD.. Right now the only FWD with 70pt potential is Buch and he was a boom or bust pick in the 3rd rd we got lucky with. he is the exception, not the rule

T2..If I think someone did a good job I will acknowledge it but at the same time if I think they did a bad job I will also call them out.
Maybe we should revisit this convo after we're 20 games in?

Stylistically they are the same. Who gives a rats ass if one was a winger, one played pro in Czech

So many people on these boards are overreacting on every pick. The Rangers had a great first round!!

Rebuilding is taking on younger guys with hoping they perform equal or better your current state in the near future. Retool is changing your guys for similar aged guys and still going for it in the moment. Up until last off-season, all we did was Retool.

Agreed. While I'm hoping to see Anderson this year, does anyone have a scope on when we'll eventually see Czech kid?

Yea, I'll take the guy who actually creates some plays that lead out of the zone. Girardi gets pinned in his own zone more than almost anyone in the league. He is horrendous. I don't even think he's an NHL player anymore.

One you will see very soon (Anderson) and the other you will only hear about for a couple years (Chytil). Both are fantastic skaters, very quick, fight hard, and have offensive upside.
