He did what he thought was the right thing to do and it does send a powerful message to the next Swedish club that ends up losing the Gold ....WIN ! I loved it ...and I am Canadian too...I was extremely happy when he took it right off LOL...but I was surprised...not shocked when he tossed it . That was not the expected move I had in mind after he pulled it over his head . My first thought was ....future Ranger Captain !!! I love seeing that attitude in a guy . We have lacked that type of player for a LONG time . He had a heck of a tourney...while playing hurt in the back half of it . Kind of reminds me of a guy that used to wear # 11 for us...that intensity:thumbu:.

He shook hands and to be honest with you I thought Sweden got jobbed by the officiating--calls made against them--similar calls not made against Canada. Anyway if he doesn't want the f***ing medal why should he hang on to it?--and if it gets up somebody's nose---too bad for them. I don't want the players on my team to be cool with losing.

I might as well say if a Rangers player were to decide to forgo the handshake ceremony at the end of a losing playoff series I would have no problem with it. I would have no problem with an opposition player doing the same. I don't expect my players to like the other team---at all. Some things don't need to be done or need to be said. This good sportsmanship shit has been pushed a little far AFAIC. When Brodeur wouldn't shake Avery's hand--yeah I'd mocked him too but I've really got no problem with Martin for doing it. They didn't like and were really angry with each other so why go through the hypocrisy of shaking hands?

I Love Lias...wow he is gonna be great for us...Did anyone noticed after he received 2nd place trophy he was skating towards boards acting disorientated not wanting to hold trophy and I am thinking there it goes over the boards..then trainer takes it from him. He would be the best trade deadline acquisition BUT leave him in Sweden till next year and lets sell.

So when one of ours does it, it's competitive fire. But when a non Ranger does it, he's a toolbag. Not singling anyone here, but there's a slice of double standard being served. I personally don't like the tossing of the medal. It looks petulant in my eyes. Rant over.

Have the same feeling about this. If CM11 tossed his bronze medal into the stands, this thread would've gone ape**** over it.

We always protect our own.

Mixed feelings about what LA decided to do. I understand it from a human perspective. He was pissed, he's young, he showed emotion, you like that drive. Also, he didn't necessarily disrespect his teammates, or the opposition. Baker Mayfield walking off the field not shaking anyone's hand on Georgia, I hated that. Lias Andersson throwing his silver medal into the stands? Okay. I think I get it.

CM11 would've reached the upper bowl, though, that's for sure.

I really don't know what this whole fuss is about actually!

I'm a 51 year old Canadian, Ranger fan, and the only thing I can think of that is sparking this reaction from people, is because he did something which is out of the NORM, which god forbid is terrible. Different is bad, let's have the sheep mentality and just follow the herd, so people will be ok with it! What a bunch of BS!!

Who or what exactly did he disrespect last night?

From what I saw, he shook hands with the IIHF medal presenter, put it around his neck (which he clearly didn't want to do) and then casually threw the medal, which he just EARNED to a fan, who I assume was American (doesn't really matter the nationality) in an American city, the land of the free! Raw, unscripted emotion on display after losing a final game, the travesty!!!

Did he not shake hands with the Team Canada players after the game? Did he walk off the ice when the Canadian national anthem was being played? Did he make any obscene gestures to any Canadian player, coach, media member, or anyone else for that matter? If he did, that would be classless, and I would be the first to say so!

The people saying he's classless, are idiots, plain ans simple! Is he a sore loser? Maybe. But, I'll take a sore loser over a player that will just take losing like it didn't matter, and just follow the herd, any day of the week. So, so happy this kid is ours and will be playing the the NHL very soon!

This is different, you are talking about sportsmanship. Throwing his medal away shows that he wasn't satisfied with the loss which shows competitive passion. Disrespecting your opponents is a another topic and a trait that I wouldn't want to see in a player.

It doesn't bother me what he did not would it bother me if any of those other kids did it. We have to remember they're still kids and they'll learn with time.

I love the fire hank is the same and it should take him a long way but I do not like what he did. He does wear the C he’s representing his country it wasn’t the most mature thing to do.

Good pros know how to not get to high not get to low he’ll learn from this.

The real story should be how well he played in this tourney. He’s opened some eyes for sure.
