Alright, so here's a scenario:

Chytil's contract can slide again next year, if he plays fewer than 10 NHL games. What do we do if Chytil plays in the NHL but isn't good or bad but just average? Do we keep him in the NHL and burn a year off his ELC? Or do we send him back and save that very valuable ELC year?

An average NHLer is a 3C. You don't send a barely-19 year old (next year) to the minors because he's only a 3C. A full year in the NHL with real minutes per game is invaluable to a kid during his prime development years if he can keep up. The question is whether we burn his year if he can only play 30 games with 8 sheltered minutes per game.

If a kid can be a 3C in the NHL, he has NOTHING to learn in the AHL. There's almost no overlap between the 2 leagues (or else the AHLer would get called up or picked up off waivers), so anyone who is a 3C in the NHL would abuse the AHL while being bored. Look at Nieves: he's barely able to keep up as a 4C in the NHL, yet he's a great AHL player. Hrivik couldn't make it as a 13F in either New York or Calgary, yet he's a beast in the AHL.

Does anyone think Kevin Hayes would've been better off developing in Hartford instead of being the 3C as a rookie?

If Lias can hang as 3C ( which in this day and age is and important and meaningful role we're not talking a 4th line scrub with 8 mins a night here) you absolutely give him that role over being 1C in Hartford.

March 22 debut. 9 games.

Chytil might have to wait until March 26 to be called back. 7 games.
They will prob be called up before those dates so they can practice with the team and I am sure they will be in NYR for 12-15 games at the end of the season so they can even watch some games up top and mix that in with their actual GP. This won't only be able exposing the players to NHL games, but also to NHL athletes and lifestyle so they can prepare for what's to come.

This can be handled much the same way some teams handle the 9 games at the start of the season which can draw out to 15 or so team games before the prospect plays his 9th game and is returned to junior...

Hartford is in a playoff race.

Hartford is in a playoff race.

And?

Sure some AHL playoff games are going to be good for the boys, but if they are called up it won't be for the exact number of games they can play without hitting the magic number. IF they decide to call them up they are going to hurt Hartford, and that is going to happen whether its for 12-15 NHL game period or if it's for the final 9 games. A March 22 callup for Anderson is 10 Hartford games missed, the 26th callup for chytil is 8 Hartford games missed and that assumes they want him playing three games in three nights bc Hartford has games on the 24th and 25th. NYR would assuredly want him back up by the 25th.

Bottom line is IF Hartford is going to make the playoffs AND NYR wants to bring the kids up for a cup of coffee, Hartford is going to have to do it and manage without the two kids for a substantial number of games down the stretch...

And I think it makes sense to give them their 9 NHL games, and let them play the rest of the season in the minors.

They could be up for 12-15 games and practices as @bleedblue94 suggested and if they sit out certain games with the Rangers - they could go back to squeeze an odd game in Hartford here and there.

They can be with the team for games and be a healthy scratch which won't count towards the 10. But a lot of fans will riot in the streets, not understanding why they are a scratch

At the end of the season would be fine.
Again, Hartford's season is going on at the same time as the NYR season, so if you want them to get their NHL games than Hartfords playoff race and the implications on it are irrelevant if you decide you want those kids getting their 9 games, hence there is no reason to bring up Hartford being in a playoff race. Those kids can only be in one place or the other.

I think Hartfords push for playoffs is more important then whatever experience a few NHL games would give them, keep them in Hartford until playoffs is secured or out of reach then bring them up for a tryout.

exactly

You get them as much playing time as possible. They can watch tape whenever they please.
there is value for them to be around the nhl life beyond just playing to know what to prepare for this summer, hence being with the team and even skipping a couple games to practice and watch live some.

and it will suck if the heads cave to the ignorance of those people...

The question becomes what you think is better for each? I think Chytil will benefit from getting back in the NHL and playing there a bit. I think Anderson can benefit from either situation, BUT he should get at least a couple NHL games this year. The point is that Hartford is going to be left on an island (and rightfully so) if the org decides the NHL time is better for these two.

I think both are better off in Hartford and i think Hartford making the playoffs benefits every prospect we have that are eligable to play for Hartford, not just those two.

Agreed. I think both players have something to learn in the AHL still, both this and next season. They will still be among the youngest players in the league and that is a good environment to learn, unlike overagers in major juniors.
