Crazy how draft picks are truly un freakin predictable. Many thought this stiff was going to be the next Mike Richards!

If anything came out of the year Schenn was drafted was the shot of Brian Burkes steaming face when nobody would trade with him.He was fuming, especially after talking with Lombardi.

This. As much as we all love the Vilardi pick and the so called experts echo the same thing, who knows how he turns out. Will we see if he can transition his game to the next level and put his big boy pants on when he turns pro.

Hope he turns out to be a beauty but you never know. It's all one big crapshoot.

Exactly my thoughts to a "T"! Especially in a weak draft such as this! We'll never know how well any of these kids will do unless you're a sure fire like a Matthews, McDavid, Crosby, Ovie, etc. Hischier and Patrick are not even close to the level of any of the superstars.

Yes it is and finally after 6 yrs of praying to every saint I could think of and a few deities , Schenn is gone. Only talent he has , other than leaping off his skates and leading with an elbow in somebody' face, is being the extra body 10 feet from the net on PP. that and riding Giroux's gravy train on wing. He's lazy, disappears for long stretches at a time, can't take or receive passes, very low IQ and terrible decision making, almost every shift. One of the dumbest forwards I've ever seen and his middle name is turnover. Can't be depended on, esp against top competition.

He plays wing because he is just not responsible enough to be a center. Can't believe Hexy got somebody to take the bait _finally.
Blues needed that contract off their books and that got the FLyers another 1ts and the condition is that if the Blues move it back to 2019, the Flyers get a 3rd rounder.

FLyers undload that stiff and Kings get Vilardi. great night

Every Flyers game I've watched Schenn has been brutal. No brains.

Any scenario where Hextall trades Giroux and Couturier in the coming years? Do Patrick and Laughton have 1-2 potential, or is Laughton more of a very good 3C?

Flyers have tons of great centers right now.

That was truly epic to see. Hilarious!

So the asking price for a modified goon a 2nd round pick? Can't wait to see him try and keep up with the other speedy 4th line forwards.

Pitt targeted toughness after the cup. It's not a surprise, they dropped back what, 10 spots? Kostin could be great or not.

I stopped questioning Rutherford after they won back to back cups.

Round One over.

Hoping for Comtois, but expecting Timmins.

Reaves can play a shift. I'm glad he's gone from St. Louis actually.

Suprised a board so upset about Tkachuck can't get this move for Pitt.

I feel like you're proving my point. As I said, Reaves will take shots but he's not going to prevent anything, same way Clifford, Andreoff, or <insert goon here> prevented Woodchuck from doing anything.

And yet people talk about winners and losers one hour after draft ends.

Giroux- Hated that contract from the moment it was rumored. Now you couple Voracek and you have 17M worth of 'core'/leadership group who along with Schenn and Simmonds have done zilch in 6 yrs to get this team into and on a playoff run. Giroux is a talented playmaking center , PP specialist. But 5 x5, and esp in board battles, not so special. Last 4 yrs his numbers and overall play have gone down. And as much as Hexy would love that $$ back, esp since the Flyers are not a playoff threat/contender anytime soon, I can't see a GM taking 8.2M for 5 more years , given his decline and size. This past year the rumors started, and that surprised me, until now Capt Invisible was wrapped in Teflon.
They're gonna need the money, esp with Provorov, Konecky , Patrick etc, talent coming up in the next few . But that contract is brutal. so is Voracek's. But Hexy said a couple yrs ago that 'his' team would be younger and faster. None of the current leadership group are 'his' players. So I expect Schenn is the first over the next couple years of moves being made. A team that should take G? One that is very very close to Cup and could use a 2C , but they'd want the Flyers to eat some money and that wouldn't be easy. I don't think he's moveable, much as I'd like that.

Cooter- Rumors there too, but I think given Hexy loves good defensive players, Cooter is safe for now. He plays a lot of tough minutes and wasn't until this year, was given skill on wing . Homer and Berube screwed up his development, which is a shame. That's on homer, one of his many faults. He's a good shutdown center, tough player, smart, and good paper. So I think eventually ,esp with Rubikov in the system and him supposedly good 2 way, Cooter will get moved. Flyers now have a ton of offensive prospects.

Laughton- FIve yrs ago , there were the Flyers with the 20th pick and Ollie Maata right there to be plucked up. Then Homer says "Scott laughton' Who? I was pissed (which happened a lot with Homer) I don't care how much 'leadership' (which had homer giddy) potential he has, you don't draft a 3rd liner at #20. He would have been there in the 2nd round. And it's been 5 yrs and he still doesn't show that he can transition to the NHL game. When he is called up, he struggles against any kind of skilled offensive players, esp top 6. Too many mistakes. Now the Flyers have a bunch of young forwards, and I don't see how he can make the squad. Pebbles getting taken by Vegas would have potentially opened a spot for him, but Pebbles is good defensively and Laughton isn't. And now the FLyers have Patrick, who could be on the 2nd line next yr, Cooter and Flippula, also signed Mike Vechione , who they think will make the squad and Oscar Lindblom is expected to make the squad, so is Weal, if they ever sign him. ANd German Rubtsov, who Hexy drools over, will eventually be their 2C , I think. also have Pascal Laberge, who they drafted in the 2nd round last year and are very high on.
So that's Rubtsov, Patrick, LaBerge, Frost,Vecchione and vying for center spots.
Laughton, I think, turning 24 next yr, will need to go elsewhere.

Laughton , given the right circumstances, in the right situation, might be a bottom liner, but I've not seen anything in his game that gives me confidence. You just can't trust him out there. I think he will get moved, due to the logjam of forwards. .

Hexy has stockpiled the farm with some very good forwards

Funny how Kadri has turned out to become the better player over Schenn. Guess Burke shouldn't have been so upset about missing out on the Ontario boy.

Kadri had a lot of growing up to do before he started to make any impact. I still think they're both kind of a wash in the end.

Can you explain Vegas choosing PEB to me, Dee? Leadership and all that, but wasn't he one of the Flyers' worst players?

Jokiharju was taken by Blackhawks in 1st round. Great pick at 29, steal of a pick if you ask me .

I want Aleksi Heponiemi or Matthew Strome at 41. Prefer Heponiemi very underrated prospect
