I think you were correct when you said Canada would be missing five guys. That looks right to me.

USA will be missing four, I think. Finland? Russia? Others?
Russia shouldn't be missing anyone outside of Provorov (although Stars are not obligated to release Gurianov due to no transfer agreemetn). Finland will most likely be missing 3 (Puljujarvi, Aho and Laine).

Well, at least five. McDavid, Chychrun, Marner, Beauvillier and Konecny. And I think one of Strome/Crouse will definitely stay with the Coyotes so it'll be six, if not seven.

I believe that Patrick will be a huge factor of this team. Him and Gauthier on the same line..I want to see that. But Patrick is somehow underrated here. He's going to drive this team to gold, he is that good. Of course that's an overstatement a bit, and it would be even with McDavid as we need the other guys too. But he will be the most important player, book it.
Last year in the Super Series or CIBC series he did nothing mind you he only played one game against the Russians but he didn't do a thing. Didn't stand out at all. So to me he really needs to impress.

All that needs to be said.

McJesus could still be playing in the WJC, it wouldn't even be fair for the other teams. McDavid is already the most talented player in the NHL, if he was playing other teenagers it would get ugly.

it was 2.5. that's a little short of almost 3.

but your point is well taken. McDavid would demolish this tournament and challenge a few records in the process.

McDavid would put up Forsberg type numbers against fellow teenagers. Wouldn't even be fair.

It seems we lose: McDavid, Marner, Chychrun, Beauvillier, Barzal, Stome, and Crouse at least?

Am I missing anyone?

We'll, I'm not sure if there are any Japanese level bad teams these days for McDavid to get 10 pts. in a single game...So, I doubt any player ever beats that record.

You forgot Konecny. Big Big loss there. Out of the highlighted players, Beauvillier and Barzal are the players I want. Strome? couldn't care less.

Konecny. But I'd be surprised if you lose Barzal, Strome, and Crouse.

A bit hard to predict....all depends on who is made available by NHL teams and politics.

In goal:

Connor Ingram
Carter Hart
Zach Sawchenko

On D:

Thomas Chabot - Dante Fabbro
Jake Bean - Noah Juulsen
Samuel Girard - Connor Hobbs
Jeremy Lauzon

Could be any of: Brisebois, Myers, Vande Sompel (I'd be okay with any of these subs)

Darkhorse: Chychrun if Arizona lets him go

At forward:

Tyson Jost-Mathew Barzal-Julien Gauthier
Brett Howden-Michael McLeod-Mitchell Stephens
Graham Knott-Anthony Cirelli-Nicolas Roy
Tyler Soy-Nolan Patrick-Mathieu Joseph
Pierre-Luc Dubois

Could be any of: Senyshyn, Merkley, Dube (if ready), Sideroff

Darkhorses: Beauvillier, Strome, Crouse, Speers, Fortin, Kyrou/Benson/Bitten (all 3 for me might be on outskirts, they'll also look at Pu, Mascherin, Bastian and Smith I'm sure)

Is it just me or does that seem like a very underwhelming roster?

Not sure about Hockey Canada politics, but here's what I'd like to see:

Tyson Jost - Dylan Strome - Julien Gauthier
Pierre-Luc Dubois - Mathew Barzal - Mitchell Stephens
Brett Howden/some 2015 guy I don't know much about - Nolan Patrick - Nick Merkley
Lawson Crouse - Michael McLeod - Zach Senyshyn

Thomas Chabot - Dante Fabbro
Jake Bean - Noah Juulsen
Jeremy Lauzon - Connor Hobbs

Carter Hart
Connor Ingram

I know it's first rounder heavy and probably unrealistic, but I think it's solid. The fourth line will most likely be 2015 mid/late rounders, but I really like the look of Crouse, McLeod, and Senyshyn on it. I think their speed will provide a good energy/grind line to balance the heavy offence.

Darn. Patrick isn't going to play the WHL games due to injury. That was kinda expected now, as he's still being sidelined in Brandon, but still, was excited to see him in more "elite" competition. Hopefully he's ok because the injury was originally day-to-day, that's why I thought he would be able to play at the CIBC series at first, but now it's been three weeks out for him unfortunately.

My team would probably be pretty different than this one, but I can't say that this one is unreasonable at all. To me the team looks ridiculously wide open this year. I think that the super series and the camp are going to be huge factors this year.

What is Sam Steel's standing with HC? he is having a great start to the season

He went to the U17 and Ivan Hlinka tournaments, so he's got pretty much the average Hockey Canada experience for an 18 year old. Haven't seen him play, but the numbers suggest that he is having a strong year. Definitely interested in seeing The Superintendent in the super series.

Dubois - Strome - Gauthier
Jost - Barzal - Kyrou
Crouse - McCleod - Steel
Roy - Stephens - Joseph
Senyshyn

Chychrun - Juulsen
Chabot - Roy
Vande Sompel - Lauzon
Fabbro

Ingram
Cormier
Sawchenko

Right, he's playing good with Philly. He was likely our captain.

Not a big fan of the crop of players available overall, I don't sense a powerhouse type team. Our D in particular are underwhelming for me. Especially with Chychrun looking like he's sticking with the Coyotes.

Last year our team was soft overall, this years team looks to be soft too. Not the Canadian way, I'm skeptical right now.

Beauvillier is in line to get Game 10 tonite

And I guess he played his 10th. game. meanwhile Barzal practices perfecting his popcorn eating skills in the press box. Just a terrific player development strategy they got going on there in Brooklyn.
