They need to get rid of RNH and lucic to get some depth into their lineup

No one will touch Lucic. RNH a team might take him. The return won't be that good though.

The defense needs some work. I don't watch them a lot but Klefbom doesn't seem to be as good this year. They are paying Russel 4 million a year. Nurse is a free agent this year and seems to have improved from what I read so he will get an increase. They are missing Sekera which I forgot about.

Talbot had a great year last year but is average at best this year.

Yeah they need to get rid of RNH and Lucic to free up cap to build their D. They need to get rid of Russel but then Chia is a crap GM.

It's amazing what the power of continuously drafting and developing good young players does for a team. The emergence of Point and Namesnikov made it easy to deal from a position of power to address another need. This is also why you just draft BPA, if you end up with too many good young forwards, what a great problem—now you hold the leverage. Yzerman played the Drouin situation perfectly, didn't just go out and get whatever deal he could that wasn't full value (i.e "oh kesler told me he wanted a trade so I traded him and didn't hold onto him until someone paid full value).
If he had drafted Seth Jones to begin with Tampa bay has no need for this trade and they may have a cup. if you look a tampay bay's drafting from 2013 on it is not that great. Obviously great team still driven by 3 players two of which were top 2 picks.

Colorado giving Minnesota the beating of a life time.

Would've been a perfect tank night had we not picked up a point, not a huge deal though.

And Craig Buttont says that Albertan team that has McDavid and Draisaitl lacks skills...lol yeah that's pretty f***ing rich.

Now, Colorado is in the playoff wildcard position, and Ott is in the #29 position. May be Roy is right :sarcasm:

Yeah Mackinnon has taken his game to the next level, his development seemed to stagnate for a bit there

Rantanen is also looking impressive. They’ve managed to keep winning even after losing Barrie as well who was tier for 2nd in D scoring before going down.

Oilers down 3-1 to the Hawks.

I can't really explain why, but the schadenfreude I get from the Oilers is my strongest hockey emotion.

Real chance they turn three ELC years of the best player on the planet into seven playoff wins. It's beautiful.

You can only laugh at this point. Connor must be thrilled. Maybe he's the new Matt Duchene where you get a small taste of the playoffs and then just play on sucky teams and suck.

I used to. I can't anymore.

Almost a decade of taking top end talent and rushing/under-developing and destroying potential stars.

Edmonton does more harm in watering down the talent in the league than an expansion team ever did. f***ing Vegas would manhandle them in a best of 7.

If Edmonton wins the Dahlin sweepstakes...... (I don't know how to finish this sentence...should be a thread actually)

I find the Oilers situation fascinating. They have the best talent in the league and some great young talent but they suck. It will likely get worse too.

Chiarelli has done a horrendous job with that team.

It's a LONG tradition of indescribable suckage that cannot be corrected overnight, in a month, a year, or several years.

Remember when people were singing Chiarelli's praises and calling him the best goddamn GM who ever lived?

If Edmonton wins the Dahlin sweepstakes..... I'm scared of where that thread would go. They have to go down as one of the worst run franchises in pro sports for the past 15 years.

no, that is untrue, but only because the sustained failure of the cleveland browns can be measured at a galactic level and even the oilers look like the new england patriots by comparison
