Here is my World Cup of Hockey 2016 Roster Rankings:

#1. Team Canada

- Well, obviously.

#2. Team Sweden
Sweden-flag_small.gif

- It's very close between Sweden, USA & Russia with a slight edge to the Swedes. Sweden's D-corps is 2nd to none and their 1st goalie's world class (while goalie depth isn't as important in a short tourney like this). Their offense isn't quite up there with Canada & Russia but they still have a solid group of elite fire power up front.

#3. Team USA

- While USA doesn't have the offensive explosivness of Russia, the D of Sweden or the goalie depth of Finland, they have a very solid, talented team that could beat anyone in this tourney + a soon to have the Hart to his name Patrick Kane...

#4. Team Russia

- Look out for the dream line: Ovi - Malkin - Tarasenko. However their D and goalies isn't up there with the best of them.

#5. Team Europe
european-union-flag-3ft-x-2ft-3453-p.gif

- Kopitar up front, Chara on D, watch out for team Europe!

#6. Team Czech Republic
stock-photo-the-flag-of-the-czech-republic-original-and-official-proportions-3131014.jpg

- With Voracek struggeling, the Czechs may have to relay on their old man: Jagr. With still a few elite players in the lineup, Czech Rep. isn't one of the frontrunners this World Cup.

#7. Team North America
640px-Flags_of_Canada_and_the_United_States.svg.png

- An interesting lineup with coming stars like McDavid and Ekblad, a young lineup to look out for.

#8. Team Finland
finland-flag-3ft-x-2ft-3445-p.png

- There are no bad teams in this years World Cup of Hockey, and the Fins are always dangerous in international tuorneys, but this roster is not elite by any means (at least not due to an NHL definition of the word).

- Look out for the dream line: Ovi - Malkin - Tarasenko. However their D and goalies isn't up there with the best of them.

I agree about the defense, but Varlamov, Bobrovsky and Vasilevsky are as good as any other team goalies

1. Canada
2. Sweden
3. USA
4. Russia
5. Europe
6. Finland
7. NAYS
8. Czech Republic

Goaltending for Team North America was supposed to be a major weakness but Gibson and Hellebuyck are leading the NHL in GAA.

I think finland is looking more intresting than in many years. Barkov is starting to become one of the best centers in the league, Vatanen, Määttä and Ristolainen is elite etc, finland has a upcoming golden generation and it will be intresting to see how they will look like in 5-10 years from now.

As long as the coaches do not **** it up.
Best forwards Canada and Russia
Best defense: Sweden.
Best overall Canada
Goalies: I do not think it is any noticable difference.
But overall very even.

Who Gives a **** about this tournament its a joke to put in a mixed team with Europe and a mixed NA team a long with other counterys.

This **** dosent even feel a slightly bit serious.

Lool, hope you have a good day at work bro, you really woke up firing on all cylinders. ;)

The all star teams idea is a poor decision from a business standpoint even if it does make sure the NHL doesn't have to negotiate with other leagues over player release. That being said I'd never count out team European leftovers from possibly pulling an upset.

1. Finland

7. USA
8. Canada

Oh, here we go again - let me make one rather safe prediction: for the zillionth time Finland will significantly outperform their roster and there will be many surprised people with goldfish-like memories: "oh, didn't see that one coming, who would have thought" etc. etc.

I accept this wholeheartedly. Then Finland will end up in the final and everyone is left wondering what the heck happened.

I'd say it's a very interesting, yet gimmicky, exhibition tournament. Time will tell how much people (or the players) will actually care once the tournament starts.

Im just being honest with you this is a big joke with teams like this and just make this tournament look unserious.

Lol I just saw this in conjunction with the CHL post. Looked like a bad day guns blazing or oh yeah Canada, Sweden, USA, Russia, Finland, Leftovers, Young Guns, Czech Republic and I don't see why these rankings should be drastically different from 2014. Also thanks to the people who were quick to call me out for comforting him who promptly broadcasted their opinions on the tournament and said nothing about roster rankings. I did mention the roster strength of team leftovers as a token tribute to that.

Really sad if any of the non-national teams win. Would make any future of the World Cup impossible. A fars.

As I think I about it more the U-23 team is really good if they try to win especially now that they have Larkin. Sad that I can't get a Larkin usa jersey, not sure anyone wants a Larkin U-23 jersey.

It looks unserious indeed. Hope this won't happen again...
Agree i would have more respect for it if it was only national teams.

What about the chl post;)? But like i said with teams like this i wouldent care if Sweden won this. I mean why not let a nhl team compeat aswell in this tournament.

Final beteween Canada and "the young Guns" would be a fars IMO, like an additional all star weekend.
Even the old allstar games East vs west were more serious...

Team USA = boyz fresh outa college + NHL journeymen won bronze at WHC...so anything is possible

Still...IF Young Guns made final ....AGAINST ANYBODY...it would be a Huge Cinderella Story! Ergo, anything but a Farce...
