This is a strong team, and reasonably close to how I think it will shape up. I'd move Shattenkirk up in the depth chart, and probably replace Foligno with Kreider. The American team will be strong on the NHL-sized ice.

following you around it seems...

I'd rank the U.S. at number 2 to open the tourney.

Although I still have no intention of wasting a minute watching this NHL gimmicky tourney.

If the NHL reverts back to a traditional format for a 2020 tournament (if there is even one planned) then I'll be onboard. but for now, I plan on doing something else come September, 2016.

Parise - T.Johnson - Kane
JVR - Pavelski - Kessel
Pacioretty - Kesler - Wheeler
Okposo - Backes - Callahan
Oshie*
(Scratch: Stepan)

Suter - Carlson
McDonagh - Shattenkirk
Fowler - Byfuglien
Yandle
(Scratch: Faulk)

Quick
Schneider
Bishop

*only for the shootouts, otherwise he doesn't deserve to be there.
Having Okposo at LW isn't ideal, but it looks like for one leftie the US has 10 righties. Perhaps, if Foligno plays equally well next year he can replace Callahan.

OK. I just don't like them in the top 9. They don't replace any of the wingers imo.

On the 4th line/extras, Callahan and Oshie for example almost match them offensively and are good two-way players with an edge. Seems like they would be more useful than Ryan and Kessel, who were both pretty bad for long stretches this year.

Kesler is there as the 5th centre, almost can't take him off plus he's a big game player.

I just don't see the room. Can't include everyone. It's not a bad thing to leave off players of this caliber; just speaks to how good your team is.

I'm a Canadian so I want Kessel on the American team.....

Max Pacioretty - Tyler Johnson - Patrick Kane
James Van Riemsdyk - Derek Stepan - Phil Kessel
Zach Parise - Ryan Kesler - Joe Pavelski
Nick Foligno - David Backes - Blake Wheeler
Kyle Okposo

Ryan Suter - Justin Faulk
Ryan McDonagh - John Carlson
Cam Fowler - Kevin Shattenkirk
Erik Johnson

Jonathan Quick
Corey Schneider
Ben Bishop
If Foligno has a repeat of this season then I would say your roster is about an accurate of a prediction as anyone is going to get. I'm still pissed Gaudreau isn't going to be able to play for this team though, would really improve that left side.

That's where not having Gaudreau or Saad because of the NA U-23 team really hurts the US team

Jones is a bigger loss in my opinion. Best of the U-23 players that we will not have.

I get the handedness argument, but still not going to get more fired up about no Johnny Hockey or Saad when Jones is being taken away.

thanks for the info, hearing first here what the canadian management is.

my 2 cents. or whatever the currency rate is now-a-days

Pacioretty - T. Johnson - Kane
van Riemdsyk - Kesler - Kessel
Parise - Pavelski - B. Ryan
Foligno - Backes - Okposo
*(Oshie - Stepan - Wheeler)*

Suter - Carlson
McDonagh - Shattenkirk
Yandle - Byfuglien
*(Fowler - Faulk)*

Quick
Bishop
Schneider

**Extras
(Probably won't happen, to many of these players continue to under-perform, but going by overall skill, on paper, I would take this team.)
Thoughts?

People who don't have Stepan locked into the lineup are nuts. He's been the best center on one of the best team's in the NHL for quite some time. Stepan > Kesler, Ryan, JVR, Ryan, Foligno, Okposo, Oshie when it comes to US forwards.

you can easily make 2 teams with US born players

Parise-Pavelski-Kane
Pacioretty-Stepan-Wheeler
Saad-Kesler-Oshi
Brown-Eichel-Callahan

Suter-Leddy
Shattenkirk-Big Buff
Faulk-EJ

Quick
Anderson

Foligno-Johnson-Kessel
JVR-Backes-Ryan
Gaudreau-Stasny-Pominville
Kreider-Dubinsky-Okposo

MacDonagh-JJ
Carlson-Yandle
Fowler-Niskanen

Schneider
Bishop

No chance pominville makes it, nor does Callahan.

It's honestly always a crapshoot. I honesty think Stephan is overrated by many(that doesn't mean he is bad he is obviously a solid player) but I don't think he should make the team

You don't know how to spell his name and don't even know how to pronounce it. I wouldn't expect you to know anything about the player. How can we take you seriously? Credibility right out the window.

Pacioretty - Pavelski - Kane

Foligno - Stepan - Kessel
Dubinsky - Backes - Okposo
Ryan - Oshie

Team USA:

Parise - T.Johnson - Kane
JVR - Pavelski - Kessel
Brown - Eichel - Callahan
Pacioretty - Kesler - Oshie

Better team that's World Cup 1996 even USA won gold for 20 years backstep.

In next year formation of my team USA would return to winning mentality like in 1996.

USA will have to ice and Under 23 team and a 23 and over team. Eichel will be on the under 23 team.

As for Brown and Callahan, no chance they will be there, especially Brown.
