If Marjamäki wants to see Barkov spending most if his time in the defensive end, he'll keep him with Laine and Jokinen.

Again, that makes no sense because then one would have to play his wrong wing, especially as other options exist. Unless he makes Jokinen play on the right wing but in that case it makes no sense why he wasn't on the right wing at WCs. Not to mention that that makes no sense in the first place because if you're attacking, you're in the offensive end and if you're defending, you're in the defensive end. Barkov advances high all the time and I don't see what that has to do with Jokinen.

Where is JUUSO HIETANEN?:shakehead

Not on the team and damm it feels great, he was holding our offense back.

Too bad Salomäki didn't make it. I would switch him to Korpikoski only if I could.

Korpikoski is the pick that's hurting me, just doesn't deserve a spot.

Our LD side will be an issue on this roster, and overall the lack of talent will hurt us.
This is a transition year for us but can't wait to see these young players play.
They play such a entertaining game.

COME the **** Ahn!!!

NO Jesse P?? Has depression been buried lakewise since the age of the mammuths?

I would lmao if Jesse is picked first in the draft. Was it a hamstring that CHANGED his life forever? You ROB him of the same opportunities that Matthews, Laine and Kånnåri Däijvi get.

Now, I DO remember a Jim Jarmusch movie about taxi driving in Helsinki years ago. Go Taxi! gooooo........ (smaller and smaller, deeper and deeper.......)

Is there a parlament member who can undo this injustice? - Sorsa? Kurri Lindström?

I've heard that Lauri can pull his shoulder out of place (EXACTLY like Mel Gibson's charachter in Deadly Weapon 1 and 2)

One injury and his in, well definetly if 2. Salomäki and Pulju are next in line probably.

Let's get real. To see Pulju in this tournament it would take close to four injuries. Salomäki, Rantanen and Armia would take preference.

If he puts Aho instead of Jokinen, there might be the best possible line. One of the best in the tournament, in fact. Laine is not completely without participating in the defending also. Some people never learn. And never seem to really watch the games... :shakehead

The final showed that Laine is too prone for turnovers right now when the time and space are taken away from him. And that game was in a large rink.

It's a good thing there's an offseason between.

Really? I started re-watching it after your post and didn't see a single turnover during the first period unless you count dumping the puck into the opposing corner a turnover. Re-watching this now, Barkov for instance had several pure turnovers.

Perhaps the next two periods...

People tend to generalise so much both in negative and postive ways. What people claim that happen is more often wrong than true. so that is why I never trust peoples eye-test. Trust the stats, they are more neutral.

Yep, this is how I remember it too. Laine didn't in fact have too many turnovers in that game like in no other game either. But because he has been so much praised (for real reasons), people who don't like young guys getting too much too early, start looking at his every movement, and when he does even the smallest mistakes and smallest amounts of mistakes, he is right away horrible and can't do anything right.

Really Barkov was the one who made a lot of critical turnovers in the final. He played a horrible game and was to me the worst player on ice. Probably had to do with his sickness, or whatever was bothering him around that time. Although I have so far noticed that he plays in general really weak in the toughest and most important games. But for some reason he seems to be above almost any criticism. Well, I hope anyway that Barky will get rid of the Ovechkin syndrome, which definitely seems to have been bothering him so far.

Thank you, thank you, THANK you!

There's a magic era right now, with Crosby, Ovechkin at 28 years of age down to Matthew & Con, Jessup & Laine at 18. Plus a lot of swedish defenders in between...hrm...

You do understand it is supposed to be a best-on-best team and we already got eight U23s there. Despite Barkov having been named 1C for the Olympics with Selanne on his wing, we kind of are already stretching our junior program as is.

Should our guys happen to advance and take out either USA or Canada, prepare for taking heat for their team being gutted by having to exclude their U23 superstars for the benefit of Team NA and don't go getting any pretensions over it allegedly having been a best-on-best.

We will celebrate like there's no tomorrow if that happens. This is Canada's team as good as it's gonna get.

Granlund - Koivu - Teravainen
Jokinen - Barkov - Laine
Lehtera - Filppula - Donskoi
Korpikoski - Haula - Komarov
Aho

Maatta - Ristolainen
Lindell - Vatanen
Lepisto - Jokipakka
Pokka

Rask
Rinne
Koskinen

Because Jussi Jokinen says so.

I'm quite sure that Marjamäki has noticed that Laine and Jokinen have practically zero chemistry, and that it is not very useful to use Laine on the wrong wing. K.Jalonen is just so incredibly stubborn that he doesn't almost ever fix these kind BS lines that he seems to create.

Sure K.Jalonen has great touch on the defensive system, but his understanding on line chemistry and how to get the best out of offensive lines, has definitely not been impressive. I have confidence in Marjamäki being at least somehow better than Jalonen in these issues. Although I wasn't very impressed with him either in these issues this year as Kärpät coach. Hopefully he will show more creativity as the national team coach.

How many actual games agaisnt NHL level opponents is he going to play in a small rink in that time to get accustomed to the faster pace and less space?

Well he has the whole offseason time to get faster and build strenght.

It's impossible to say right now already that he will struggle.

Guess you haven't seen many posts from jfc before if you had you'd know that he is just joking around.

On an unrelated note the Finnish team looks competitive, you've got a real #1 d, centers good enough to rely on to both shut down and produce against the best players in the world, dmen that all around are certainly able to handle themselves against good opposition, and the goalies are just all world.

Canada isn't noticeably weakened by the U24 team, so no excuses from us. This is so close to our A team as makes no never mind... Yanks on the other hand, will be significantly weakened, then further hamstrung by some glaring omissions from their roster.

As for Suomi? First let's see if u can beat NA's Young Gunz, which I seriously doubt...My guess is they'll be too fast and have too much firepower for ur A team to handle...

First D pairing is good, second is okay as well but the third pairing is atrocious.

As for offense, that should be fine, yes.
