It's pretty simple really.

If GB beat Ukraine and then Poland loses to Slovenia & France, GB is promoted.
If GB loses to Ukraine, they have no chance at promotion.
If GB beats Ukraine, France has no chance at promotion.

The primary tie breaker in this tournament is head-to-head matchup. So if GB & Poland tie for 8 points, Poland holds the tie breaker. If GB & France tie for 8 points, GB holds the tie breaker.

Poland could beat Slovenia or France in OT and lose to the other in regulation and only get to 7 points and GB still promote if they beat Ukraine in regulation.

France could still promote if GB beats Ukraine in regulation as long as France beats Poland in regulation by 4 goals and Poland beats Slovenia in regulation. That would create a 3 way tie at 8 where they all got 3 points in h2h so it would go to goal differential in h2h games. GB would be -5, If France wins by 4 then they would be +3, and Poland would be +2 and France would advance

even Ukraine or Slovenia could potentially promote still, but it would take a scenario where everything goes right since Slovenia can max out at 7 so would have to have Poland beat France in OT to get to 7 as well and beat them on h2h(and GB lose to Ukraine), and Ukraine at 8 but lost to both France and Poland so their game would have to go to OT and Poland lose to Slovenia.

the Brits won to get to 8 now. Ukraine and Slovenia are officially out.

If Poland beats France in regulation they are promoted
If Poland beats France in OT/SO and gets at least a point against Slovenia they are promoted
If Poland loses to France in OT/SO and beats Slovenia they are promoted
If Poland loses to France by 3 goals or less and beats Slovenia in regulation they are promoted
If Poland loses to France by 4 goals or more and beats Slovenia in regulation then France is promoted
If France beats Poland in regulation and Poland doesn't beat Slovenia in regulation then Great Britain is promoted

Slovenia has to steal a point from Poland today or the Brits are out, Poland has to get all 3 points or France is out, Poland will have their fate in their hands tomorrow regardless.

Slovenia now losing to Ukraine 3-0 too. It's amazing how bad they are doing considering this is the first year they even play as low as IB and were able to stay up in quite competitive IA 3 years in a row. Major decline of Slovenian hockey or just a bad year?

yeah it's a bit surprising to me that they're gonna finish 5th(last but not relegated because Japan) here, without winning a game since they just came down from D1A last year. Is it a down age group for them or?

Is the tiebreaker based on goal differential? Poland is losing 4-1 against France right now, but will still get promoted because they still have a GD of +7, where GB is +3, and France is currently at +6.

They will always be a small hockey nation due to their population. Considering what they have achieved with just 2 million people has been remarkable and will grow since Koptiar is the most popular athlete there. But they will always have down years like Slovakia due to the lack of people playing strictly because of the small of nation.

we posted at pretty much the same time, your post wasn't here when I just said that.

I'm pretty sure it's h2h goal differential. Poland beat the Brits by 6, Great Britain beat France by 1, so if France wins by 3 they're +2, Poland is +3, if France wins by 4 then Poland is +2 and France is +3.

France might end up pulling their goalie up 3 here to try to advance if the score remains the same heading into the last minute or so. Still have a full period to go though

Game is over. France advanced to the next level. Good for them.

7-2 win against Poland.

Bastien Maia (FRA) looks like a great player, 11 pts in 4 games. Next closest player has 6.

Way to go GB. Incredibly proud of this group of lads!

Really pleased with the effort this tournament, on paper this group of players wasn't great compared to recent years and missing Duggan as well. The aim is to stay in this pool and with that already confirmed they could have gone through the motions but they grinded out wins against teams who were clearly better.

I enjoy watching the GB juniors more than even the NHL. Every year I've played against and/or been the ref or linesman for the games of most of the team so it's really great to watch them succeed at international level.

While France was clearly the best team in the tournament, that was a weak finish by Poland. They probably couldn't have beaten France as is, but they shouldn't have lost like that.

Still good to see the Poles fighting for promotion, and a strong British team is also a real nice surprise. With Italy and Hungary replacing France and Japan it really makes it interesting for next year in this group, as I think it could be wide open for anyone to win promotion. Will be fun to see.

Could have used this result next season when relegation is on the line & the GB U20 team is potentially even worse on paper.

Yikes, that was an epic collapse by Poland.

I gotta give France a lot of credit for never giving up, even knowing they had to score more than three goals to win the game. It makes the loss of Łyszczarczyk even that more prevalent now, seriously screw you Sudbury for not releasing him for a one week tournament. Not saying he could have prevented the defensive collapse, but he could have scored some goals to prevent the 4 goal outcome to be Polska's undoing. At least this team was a step in the right direction overall.

Maia is a damn good player though.
