I hope Paigin will make the roster. Of course he should be tested first in Eurotours.

I would like to see some young guys like Buchnevich, Sorokin, Paigin, Mironov, Gusev on the roster.

It would be cool but I doubt that we will see some young roster. I think Russia will select a very experienced group of players given the fact that it's their home World Championships, they will want to win big time. It's really win or bust (pretty much always for Russia, but this time even more).

The thing is that there's not a lot of Russian veterans who have had better seasons than the youth. Obviously, Znarok won't take a kindergarden like to teh Czech games, but, for example, Paigin was 2nd in points among all Russian KHL defenders, Gusev was 5th in points among Russian KHL forwards, Sorokin has been a top tier KHL goalie (and Russian NHL goalies are having a tough year), Mironov has played in the Worlds before, etc.

It's too early to predict roster, but I won't be surprised to see a lot of young talents at all. Then again, who knows who'll be available from the NHL.

I hope that Tampa will make play-off and taking into account their last run it is a high chance that guys like Kucherov and Namestnikov will not be available.

The Average age of the Russian roster last year was roughly 28. Hardly a kindergarten. Mironov was the only real 1st. grader, to use your analogy, lacking in any kind of pro/international experience. Perhaps you can make an argument that Antipin was a youngster as well, but Panarin certainly doesn't count. but as far as youth and inexperience are concerned, those were the only names on the Russian roster to which the term kindergarten applies.

I do expect Gusev, Sorokin and Paigin to make this year's roster, but the rest of the roster to be the regular cast of KHL and NHL characters. Only this year minus the Washington and Chicago crew. So, no Ovechkin, Kuznetsov, Orlov, Panarin or Anisimov. They'll be knee deep in NHL semifinal action by the time 1/4 action at the WHC is set to kickoff, So, other than those 5, and barring injury of course, all of Russia's players will be available.

I am pretty sure that he was talking about the Russian team which played 2 games in the Czech Republic about one week ago, part of EHT.

No Panarin, Ovechkin, Orlov, Kuznetsov, man. I'm starting to really appreciate Orlov too, a defenseman with major offensive talent. Hm, I'm hoping for a strong performance by the Russian team.

Get Provorov on this team! :naughty:

I know it's not realistic, plus he will be probably in the play-offs. But it would be awesome, and really intriguing for me as Flyers fan to watch him among this competition. I think that he already could handle it quite well.

interesting suggestion. I think he will be available by then (end of April/beginning of May timeframe) but I doubt the Russians would go for it, too much on the line for them.

Personally, I hope none of those guys (Ovechkin, Malkin etc.) are available. I'd like to see how well the team would do being led exclusively by KHL talent. It would give a better picture of where the process of hockey development stands, and what future methods should be considered.

I think Tyutin ended his career in the national team

are you kidding me? I don't know how he has found success in Sochi, but every time I see him U20 level and NT level - he looks like a pylon - who can't skate, position himself or use his body in physical battles.

He may have a lot to learn, and he may not be ready at present to play at the international level, but he does have a lot of physical talent. You can count the D men with physical talent on one hand.
