I mean, it's always nice, but we would have to play above .500 hockey just to pass MTL if they didn't get a single point the rest of the way

I think you mean Toronto will pass them. However for that to happen Toronto needs to keep winning and despite the odd win they will get, I think when it's finished the Leafs will end up 30th overall.
