Let Kimbrel get an abortion like that out of the way before the playoffs. Pulling him was bad but Farrel has nothing to worry about tonight he got the job done overall.

Anyone who watches a lot of sports knows that 9th inning implosion is a very small deal. Regression to the mean and all that. Its good for this team who has had a buttload of ugly losses to have one which doesn't matter just like the rest of them.

Long season they mashed even Price got a buttload of wins and the pen has settled down.

#1 seed in the playoffs is a nightmare as well playing the wildcard winner is no advantage at all after sitting for 5 days and them having momentum. I bet in the next decade only 1 maybe 2 #1 seeds win the World series. And I bet over 5 lose the divisional round against the team with momentum.

I bet Texas loses to whomever wins that game.

Considering they already clinched, you don't leave kimbrel in there. He could have thrown 50 pitches, not what you want. Right call to take him out.

Nah seriously F that I way prefer to go the Patriots route and defer and make Cleveland win 2 straight against us at home.

No chance they do we could win both easier with less pressure not being at home and then make G3 a home clincher.

Splitting against Cleveland is a far easier task than going 2 for 2. Sure you want G7 at home but we don't want the series to go that far.

Sure that is very true. But hes out regardless if the next batter isn't an out. And 1 more pitch could result in 2 outs.

Kelly looked great before the HR wonder how it effects his role in the playoffs.

If Craig Kimbrel blows a playoff game don't worry about me.

I'll be fine.

Totally fine.

The most fine.

Nobody will be more fine than me.

I'll be so fine it'll make your head spin.

I'm the best at being fine.

It's really quite something how fine I'll be.

If the plan is to get home-field advantage and play the Indians, I'd say the loss last night worked to our advantage. Yes we may need to win a couple more to ensure home advantage, but at least our chances of catching Texas decreased.

After the first pitch in 9th Kimbrell knew they clinched - this guy should either not have been told or pulled. He psychology can not pitch in non save situations

He was very good to excellent going back to July 5

Also- who wins NL Cy young & MVP

You can't apply football logic to baseball logic.

Home field advantage for the world series has nothing to do with team performance and is based off an exhibition game for starters.

And there is no such thing as home field advantage in the first round. Top seed has to play a team with serious momentum who just won a game 7 while they sat for 5 days prior to a short series. DISADVANTAGE.

We are in a great place no coin flip wild card game and unlikely to face the winner of that game.

Remember in the other divisional series the home team has to go 2-0 against the opponents top 2 starters or they are screwed. That just isn't much of advantage I'd say its a disadvantage. In a 5 game series if you split as the road team you are in great shape.

I think the #3 seed is the optimal place to be. And with how well wildcard winners have fared you have a good chance of the ALCS/NLCS being at home.

Bullpen era for the month finally creeps up over 1 and I guess it sucks again.

If anyone wants to take bets on Kimbrel's blown saves or Price's ERA for the postseason being over/under .5 and 4.00 respectively, I'm taking the under.

Cleveland and Detroit are in a 4 hour rain delay and counting.

http://www.wxyz.com/weather

Both teams need that game played so they could very well move it to Monday.

Game was just called. Nobody wanted to play Monday. Francona will field a crappy lineup for sure as why risk any injury? Game would only be played if Tigers need it.

Playoff seeding for Indians is not a consideration.
