Won't happen but I'd go.

Chara
Krug
Liles
Carlo
O'Gara
Ehrhoff

Keep the Millers around as the two spare D.

Find a new home for McQuaid ASAP.

Hurts me to say it as I've always been a supporter, but Morrow probably hits the waiver wire.

No need to play 5 lefties with your only right-shot being a teenager. Claude would not approve. Claude & Sweeney probably wouldn't approve of 2 rookies either.

whatever happens come cut time, how refreshing it is to see some youth being served on D who actually appear to be kids who we fans can realistically see playing a significant part of this organization moving forward

Sort of why I said it won't happen. Just what I would do if I was Sweeney/Claude.

Although I will say it's curious that O'Gara has played the entire preseason on the right side even though he's a lefty. It's not like it's necessary. Maybe he flat out told them he'll play whatever they want, but he's far more comfortable on the right side. I've said before it all depends on the player.

What will likely be the group on opening night if McQuaid is still not ready to go.

Chara
Krug
Liles
Ehrhoff
Kevan
Carlo

The ducks still have to move players for cap space. If the rumors are true about them wanting Frederic at the draft, I wonder if they would consider a package of Frederic, Hayes, Morrow + for Fowler.

Chara-Krug still want to see this pairing tried
Fowler-Carlo
Liles-K Miller
C Miller

Maybe keep Erhoff as the #8 and move McQuaid for anything.

O'Gara gets some big minutes in Providence and is first call up.

I think it takes more than that futures wise. But, I do think trying to send Hayes back has some merit. If you don't send back Spooner for Fowler, the Bruins can't afford Fowler next year unless they dump one of Hayes/Kevan/McQuaid. Ducks obviously don't need d-men....so....Hayes. I think its going to be hard to move McQuaid right now. You could easily argue he has negative value.

Very tough call. I honestly don't know what I'd do.

I think I'd rank them...

Krug
Chara
Ehrhoff
Carlo
Kevan Miller
Liles
Colin Miller
McQuaid
Morrow
O'Gara

But how important is it to consider injuries and playoff depth? How many times do you see teams dealing for an Ehrhoff or Liles type at the deadline? If that's a consideration, then Carlo and O'Gara should go down so you can keep as many assets as possible. Is the gap between Carlo and say Colin Miller so big that it would be worth giving away Morrow?

This post sums up my thoughts exactly. Ehrhoff and Liles will have value at the deadline and, hopefully, at that point, guys like O'Gara, Colin, and Carlo will make those guys trade bait.

Chara Carlo
Krug McQuaid
Liles Kevan
Ehrhoff Colin

Would be my 8.

edit: Would be my EXPECTED 8.

I won't approve or understand if Carlo goes from playing 20+ minutes on the top pair with Z to the AHL. Seems completely opposite of how you should approach a competitive environment. Sweeney said at the beginning of camp that there are positions available.. Carlo played extremely well and deserves it.

Waiving Morrow and sending O'Gara to prov is honestly the only outcome I would be happy with. Morrow is very clearly the worst.

Carlo certainly earned it more than Colin Miller. I've really moved from thinking Carlo should get a couple months in the AHL to thinking he should just stay on the team over the last week.

What I hope:

Chara/Carlo
Krug/K. Miller
Liles or Erhoff/C. Miller

That's not terrible IMO.

What I think happens:

Chara/McQ
Krug/K. Miller
Liles/Erhoff

Yeah, I voted based on my best reality guess. Pretty similar...it's Clode...

Chara/Erhoff
Krug/K.Miller
Liles/McQuaid
C.Miller

What I'd like to see:

Make a damn trade!

I'd love to play Carlo, but with flotsome like Morrow hanging around, I gotta believe the B's will go conservative, to start. The guys with options will go down. ...and hopefully this process will help nudge speed bumps like Morrow out of town.

I wouldn't make C.Miller available. He can be the #7, for now. I like Erhoff, but I think he's got a semi small window of his best play.

Does anyone think Morrow or Colin Miller could be used as forwards?

Not now. ...but I've thought for a while now, if Morrow wants a NHL career, he should spend a year on somone's AHL roster making the forward transition.

There are plenty of skilled NHL forwards who have zero understanding or interest in using their body at all. While I won't say you can get away with it at forward...you def can't get away with it on D.

Krug is a great example of a guy who gets it. He's no bruiser, but he knows how to use the body when he needs to. Gotta be able to...

If Morrow can't get the puck away from a attacker with his stick...he's helpless.

Must be noted that O'Gara has been doing it playing his weak side as well. That's tough for a first year NHL'er even if you've been playing it your whole life.

Dom, I love the way O'Gara has played this preseason (in my limited viewings). The first time I saw him at DC as a 17 year old I thought he acquitted himself extremely well against much older prospects and now he looks the same against Pros. He has a calm about his game that I like. There's no panic there and I don't see him making the same mistakes twice.

I do believe I was giving him a compliment ;)

carlo paired with chara at practice today. mcquaid and k-miller off the ice. not sure if this means he made the team, or is a placeholder...but carlo obviously had a very strong camp. big waiver day coming around the league.

Will be interesting to see, now that Ehrhoff is gone and McQuaid and Kevan both injured, who goes for Boston on opening night. Assuming both Kevan and McQuaid can't go, would the Bruins roll out.

Chara - Carlo
Krug - O'Gara
Liles - Colin M.

And if they did, how would they do. I would love nothing more than to see this 6-man unit play well and become a regular thing.

I'm not holding my breath however.

That would be the most likely lineup in that scenario. Fun is....
