Wouldn't mind taking a goalie or 2 in the later rounds, our weak point of our pool.

I agree we should take one in the later rounds, but we have no clue whether our goalie prospects are busts or not, it's the most unpredictable position by far.

Jonathan Quick for example was rated like a 7.0C a couple years after draft, and many other all-stars have been taken very late.

Bibeau for example could become amazing, it's such a mental position, thus why many break out at age 23-26 usually.

Watching the London Knights gm last night.
Would not be dissapointed if we ended up with Max Jones.

Big skilled and tough.
Top 6 PF

Tkachuk looks real good as well.

Would not be dissapointed to pick either one of these players with our pk.

Jones is the player I would take.

As per Sportsnet - Alex Nylander is going to play for Mississauga this year! :handclap:

I appreciate these kids trying to make it easier for us to watch them - because really when it's all said and done - THAT's what's important

Leafs need a big shut down #1 dman that can only be selected at the top of the draft

Weber, Subban, Keith, Seabrook, Lidstrom, are just a few examples of top pairing defenders taken outside the first round. Schenn, Gudbranson, Reinhardt are a few examples of top5 picks who havent made the impact they were supposed to

Shut down D are a dying breed. Which #1s are shutdown D these days? Doughty, Pietrangelo, and Suter. Anyone else?

Almost every #1 D is great defensively, but better offensively. They shouldn't be called shut-down D.

Well the problem with our pool is the high end talent of our goalies. They are all Reimer level goalies, but Reimer level doesn't mean we shouldn't be looking to improve.

I too would not mind bringing in one guy from the CHL and maybe one from Europe or the NCAA. Someone whom may be far from reaching his ceiling, but has franchise goalie potential none-the-less.

Do you mean they are Reimer level goalies because they all weren't taken in the 1st round and projected to be elite?

Christopher Gibson was drafted in the 2nd round of the same draft where John Gibson was taken 10 spots ahead of him. How many people would be pumped to have John Gibson?

Great question, what is our most glaring need? I know Babcock will press for a big D man who can play top pairing. We took Marner this year but still need some size in that top 6 to fully utilize all this skill we are drafting Nylander,Marner,Bracco and the pickup of Kapanen.I doubt we finish that low 2 years from now, so this does become a critical draft. Im assuming we finish 7 to 10th last. Who would be there for us to take at that slot?

To me the Leafs would be wise to pick up one more mid first rounder if this is a strong draft. We need a big top pairing D man and a top 6 forward with some size/grit.Oh ya, and goaltending.

ok big fella, this ain't a call out but I can't see where your head is at, atm

you say 7/10, I can't think of 6 let alone 9 teams we can or will top in the standings this year

kessels offence is gone and I suspect because of that, others O will drop/plummet

we had 0, I repeat 0 injuries of note last year and got middle of the pack/average goal tending.

they are going to be trying to learn a very new way of life and system on the ice, that will take time

I would not be shocked one little bit if it was a epic battle for last between us and arizona

Well first of all, a Reimer level goalie should not be an insult more than a compliment. I'd love to have a Reimer on my team, especially pre-injury Reimer when he did have a lot more potential. Also, I never said they had to be taken in the first round. However a 2-4 pick like we spent on Reimer would have been nice. Luckily, we should be able to pick up someone like Evan Fitzpatrick next year.

The more I've seen and heard about Sean Day, the less impressed I am. I do not think he is an exceptional player...think they got that one wrong.

He's pretty much a pure offensive defenseman, and he's not even the best one in the draft IMO. With Alex Nylander there now with the McLeod brothers, he better put up big points, or else I wouldn't even put him in the 1st round, nevermind the top 10, unless he somehow improves everywhere else.
