That I predicted we'll end up using on another D because he's BPA.

They were kind of linked concepts...that we'd draft 2 defenseman...and that Francis doesn't think we have a goal-scoring problem so we can afford to use both 1sts on defenseman, while not addressing the obvious need.

I'm having a hard time not being skeptical after that Bean pick. Sure, he was BPA...but he was about the furthest thing from a need.

Bean is an OFD, which means he can chip in on the offensive end. Offense = goals. You don't just need snipers to help out team scoring.

You don't draft for need in the NHL draft. You take whoever is #1 on your board when you pick.

Honestly, do you think our "goalscoring woes" are going to be solved in the next 3 years by anybody we draft tonight? Maybe Francis will have made the totally wrong picks, who knows, but anyone he picks in this draft isn't going to help this team for 3 years so stop with the "Francis doesn't think we have goal scoring woes". For all we know, he could be planning on trading 1 (or more) of our D for goal scoring help.
