Late to the party, but if the Canes felt Bean was BPA, then it was the right pick. How it will turn out in the long run? Who knows, but whether they took Bellows, or Kunin or Bean at 13, that player likely wasn't going to be on the Canes roster for at least 3 more years. Who knows what our needs will be in 3 years. A couple years ago, we talked about how bad our forward depth was in the systems and in 1 years time, we added Tolchinsky, Aho, Roy, Saarela, Teravainen, and Zykov.

I don't think it's a case of Carolina not recognizing they need goalscoring for next season, but this pick would have zero impact on that.

I'll say it: I like the way Bettman has morphed in his role in the pageantry, if you'll allow the term. He's awkward, but he knows he's awkward, so he's loose and can laugh/smile about it. He doesn't try to be perfect, he doesn't try to be entertaining, but he's not a robot and not a smug bastahd.
