So what are the weakness points of the Habs lineup? I'm definitely bias but I think this is the best balanced group the Habs have in many years!

Forward lines: I believe the top 2 lines are very solid all around (best top 6 in a long time!). Say what you want about DD at 3C but having the hard working Carr and Shaw playing on his wings will be a solid line. 4th line is slightly above average IMO.

Defense Pairings: With Petry hurt, it gives Sergachev a chance to play in the NHL when it counts for 9 games. This will be interesting if he stays! Habs lost Subban and the puck moving skills but I don't think it's as bad as most are saying it is. Beaulieu has improved every year for the last 3 years (very slightly but an improvement each year). I think he is ready and playing with Weber will help! IMO, there are no big holes on D. Above average D with lots of depth!

Goaltending: One of the best Goalies in the world with a good back-up that will play 10-20 games. Only potential issue is if Price is not past his injury 100%. He looked good at the World Cup though!

I'm really happy (perhaps impressed!?) with those lines. Probably the best balance to this lineup through and through.

I wonder if Ghetto will stay as a 13th forward? Or traded by the time Petry returns.

You realize we don't have to keep Sergachev for the whole 9 games. If Petry comes back early and there are no other injuries Sergachev goes down early. I wouldn't risk Andrighetto or Flynn on waivers just to have Sergachev play 12min or less for a few more games. That would be poor management in my opinion.

If Sergachev is doing well, his potential contributions to this franchise dwarf those of Flimsy Flynn or Redundant Redmond.

By doing well, I mean being able to handle 14+minutes per game and making good plays on both sides of the puck.

We've already been told Sergy is getting at least 9 games even if Petry is back in 2. So the issue of one more cut needs to be faced.

If we are adamant not to risk losing Flynn, or Redmond, we will have to send Carr down. To me, that makes no sense, unless of course Carr fails utterly, which we won't know in two games.

I'm not sure what to think about Emelin - Sergachev. I guess they're trying to shelter both of these guys' minutes. But it would seem better to have Sergy with Markov who's lost a step, but still a good mentor and Emelin with Pateryn.

I vote Flynn as well. Maybe Byron though! His speed is an asset but the guy can't seem to score on his opportunities. How many break-aways does he get and actually score? He's a bottom 6 player and gets pushed around in his own end. Not a good situation and it's hard to shelter a player like this. No big loss if we lose either Flynn or Byron

2015-16
Paul Byron = 11 goals in 62 games
Andrighetto = 7 goals in 44 games
Brian Flynn = 4 goals in 56 games

And you pick on BYRON as the one who can't score??

As I thought Therrien will want to roll four lines the most he can again this season. I always thought that if you can do it, you should play this style of hockey all year long, playoffs included. That's how you get to spring ready to face the challenge of a deep run.

Heard Bergevin saying that Therrien believes he can play his fourth line against any other line in the league.

I still think that all the lines will be asked to play the same responsible style of hockey, with the objective of scoring goals and produce positive possession stats. I say it until last season, if you need one, the 'checking' line is now the fourth line, even if you ask them to score as well.

I like that approach from Therrien and the way this team is built on speed and a mix of skills and hard work.

Expect a lot more goals this season, mainly because of a better depth and balance, a PP that can'T do worst and many more dirty goals from the crease.

Bergevin did a great job.

Not a fan of keeping Sergachev to play on the 3rd pair. Send him to Windsor to be the #1 Dman if that's the case.

Plekanec - Shaw - Radulov
Sergachev - Beaulieu

2nd pp unit doesn't have DD which is great; but what can you expect from the current 2nd unit as listed?

I predict a huge season in development for Sergachev this year.

-9 NHL games
-play on a very good Windsor team
-top D man for Russia at the World Juniors
-most likely a long playoff run in Windsor
-Windsor is hosting the Memorial Cup this year

That will be a lot of high pressure games for him. Huge learning curve.

Yikes, as pretty much what a lot of people thought...Bergevins evaluation of players very limited and they want to use Condon as scapegoat.

Yup. Sure, Weber's good but he gave up a no. 1 puck-moving D who is 4 years younger to land him. Maybe that should also figure in the equation.

As for Condon, Therrien already threw him under the bus last year during a post-game presser. And now the GM, yeah sure, "nothing against Mike Condon", but a litany of talking points saying otherwise.

Do they really need Sergachev if he's going to play limited minutes? It's not as if he's first pair getting tutored by Weber. I doubt he survives beyond the 9 games.

Opening Night Line-up

On paper, it's the best group of forwards, best group of defensemen, and the best back-up goalie the habs have had in the last five years! There is a legit top six. The bottom six are a good fit. The defensive pairings make sense. Better yet, there is youth waiting to takeover, i.e. McCarron for DD, Sergachev for Markov, de la Rose for Mitchell, Redmond for Emelin, Sherback, Juulsen, Hudon, Lindgren, Lernout, Bitten, Addison, etc...

Biggest player in our bottom 6 is Danault who is 6'0, 200 pounds. I hope McCarron gets called up early in the season. We need size.

It's not throwing under the bus when it's true.

Condon was 38 out of 38 goalies. He was a rookie or whatever you want to say but he didn't produce and that's why he ended up on waivers.

Carey Price is one of the best players in the game of course he makes your team better. It's like saying Crosby wouldn't make the habs better. MB philosophy is you build from the net out and your goalie is your most important player. Gainey had the same philosophy too.

Guys condon was the worst goalie in the league last year. With league average goaltending we would have made the playoffs
