By my own standards (Age eligible for the calder trophy and rookie status, has not previously played in the NHL), I'm going to count him as a prospect. I'm just in the process of adding him and the other past few signings to the main list on the first page!

You're very welcome!

BTW, does anyone besides me find it weird how FEW prospects Vegas has signed? I figure with a team that will be going into next season with just one draft under their belts, that they would be all over NCAA, CHL and European UFAs in order to jumpstart their prospect pools.

I can only conclude that they have talked to a few other NHL teams and are reasonably confident they will be able to pick up some decent picks and prospects in return for expansion draft considerations, otherwise...

That's exactly what I expected, Caley

I figured they'd be going all over the place trying to find players

They are still going to need actual NHL ready players so it might not be so. Are they expecting a bunch of FA signings?

Me thinks then they want to garantee a first overall pick.

I was thinking the same thing Caley but one factor behind their restraint may be their sharing of an AHL affiliate. If I'm reading through some of the stuff on the AHL board it looks like they'll be sharing with someone in Chicago. With this in mind they probably only have so many development spots available so don't want to go overboard with the free agents. In saying that I could still see them invite a pile of free agents to a development camp after the draft and they'll probably have a rookie camp to sort through some other free agents.

My B, there was no name listed in post so I skipped over it.

No worries, I thought I would save you some trouble from someone in a bad mood. We find some in these parts. They will possibly miss my post so you might not be saved.

We don't all think alike.

I agree it is quite odd and I'll admit disappointing for me. To not be in on any of even the top NCAA UFA's is somewhat concerning as even the teams with good prospect pools are going after them. It just doesn't seem ideal from Vegas to only have one prospect at this stage. It could be a sign that Vegas hasn't finalized their AHL team which is also troubling as they can't afford to lose a year of development.

CapFriendly has the Ducks signing Jack Kopacka to his ELC which makes sense as he signed an ATO with Anaheim's AHL team this week (One doesn't ALWAYS lead to the other but often it does).

Is one of the issues the lack of confirmation about where the AHL affiliate is going? I know Chicago is a rumored possibility but does this kind of thing affect where free agents sign?

It looks like the Marlies just signed Jordan Papirny to an ATO (Link below). Any idea if this is a precursor to a free agent ELC with the Leafs?

Probably not as the Leafs sign a lot of guys to ATOs. Last year at the tail-end of the Marlies season they signed: Tyler Wong (WHL), TJ Foster (CIS), Mason Marchment (OHL), Ty Stanton (WHL), Chase Witala (WHL), Jordan Hickmott (CIS), Tony Cameranesi (NCAA draft pick), and Shane Conacher (NCAA). Most of them got AHL/ECHL deals for this season (Wong returned for another year of WHL, while Hickmott signed in Slovakia) but Cameranesi (The only one to be drafted by Toronto) is the only player to see any significant AHL time this year (31 GP) so I'd wager the chance of any of them getting NHL deals is very low.

True enough. Thanks!
