Good news and bad news concerning the Toronto/Florida game.

The good news: Curtis McElhinney is starting for Toronto.

The bad news: Reto Berra is starting for Florida.

With Andersen injured, it is not beyond the realm of possibility the Bruins reclaim third in the Atlantic.

Funny, McElhinney was lights out  ****!

Well, there goes my dream of getting Ladeskog in the off-season. All my money is on Bjork now ... and maybe T.J. Oshie on the UFA wish list

Id cry with happiness if the Bruins ever got Oshie. Legit one of my favourite non Bruins but I think the chances Boston even bothers are slim to negative 2000  not with the young guys they have coming through and after they paid Backes big money last year. Have to re-up Pasta too. But man, if theres hope then im all for it. Can see Washington extending him, hes been ridiculous on that team.

IF Boston traded Spooner, which they might have to do to sign JFK, then an Oshie deal makes sense. That would move Backes to 3rd line C while JFK grooms in Providence and you have Oshie / Pastrnak in your top 6 with Senyshyn presumably riding shotgun with Backes. That leaves the left side with Marchy at the top and the glut of LW players/prospects battling it out for the 2nd/3rd line spots.

It also works if they move Spooner to that 2nd line LW spot, but I'm not sure how likely that is.

It also keeps 2 of Belesky/Hayes/Nash on the 4th line, whichever two remain after expansion draft or buyouts

It actually works better if they move Spooner to LW.

That gives you two options with Backes. You can have him center 3rd line while grooming Senyshyn, or you can have him at 3rd line RW while grooming JFK. Now you can alternate JFK and Senyshyn from Providence to Boston as appropriate.

If Oshie is in Boston he is a lock to be with Marshy Bergeron youd think? Or would Pasta move back up and Oshie can set up shop on Krejci's right? (which would work well)

I just feel like we always miss the big fish in FA. And Washington would be absolutely stupid not to re-sign him.

I should have known better than to try to watch Pittsburgh and Chicago on NBC. They have been going on and on about Toews and Crosby ad nauseum. Started in the pregame show and hasn't stopped. I should just put it on mute.

The assumption here seems to be that Vegas will take either Miller or MQuaid, but I found these comments by Conte quite interesting and potentially insightful from our POV

Where were these Blackhawks when the B's needed help 2 nights ago.

They are blowing out the Penguins 4-0 after 1.

The Penguins full throttle offensive game either works to perfection or backfires tremendously into non-stop odd man rushes the other way.

The latter is occurring tonight.

“It’s very accurate. Ryan Suter [who chose Minnesota over Detroit as a UFA in 2012] is a good friend of mine. It’s nothing personal, but he’s a tough guy to play for if you’re a veteran. If you’re a young guy, I think it’s great because of the accountability. If you don’t play [properly], you’re not going to play,†Chelios said.

“I wanted to [re-sign] because I wanted to stay in Detroit, but no matter what I did — I tried so hard to win his heart over and I just couldn’t," Chelios, now 55, said. "It took all those years to find a coach that — I wouldn't say not like me, but just didn't want me in the lineup."

Cliff notes: Chris Chelios is POS who believed he was entitled to ice time and couldn't grasp the reality that he wasn't playing because he was bad.

Realized that he had an over abundance of an ego and perhaps was a challenge for any coach. He seemed more concerned with being a long in the tooth player (a la Howe) than an effective one. I'm sure that caused some friction between he and Babcock. Was suspect of his claim for that reason. Should be interesting how it does play out for the leafs. Would expect them to look to add veteran pieces via FA to compliment the incredible but very young talent on their roster.

Going to watch Kings and flames. Tkachuk is probably going to get clobbered.

Cliff notes: Chris Chelios is POS who believed he was entitled to ice time and couldn't grasp the reality that he wasn't playing because he was bad.

If I remember correctly, Chelios brought this up before and numerous past and present Mike Babcock players said they had no clue what he was talking about.

Chris's ego seems to be blinding him pretty badly. He's basically saying "I was willing to stay in Detroit no matter what and Mike just didn't want me". It's interesting he phrases it as if asking for a lower salary (more money than most of us could dream of annually) and not getting it somehow makes him a victim. Or that not getting ice time as a guy into his mid to late 40's makes him a victim.

I guess I'm not that surprised that 2+ decades in the league can make you feel a little entitled to what it gives you. But, I am a little surprised that Chris is still on about this theory years after retiring.

Doughty is a great defensemen. Wouldn't want him to get seriously injured here. Kinda of a no brainer to me.

Holy **** Tkachuk just tried to kill Doughty in open ice that was massive. Just missed him. Doughty must be starting to get rattled.

Hope he keeps it up until Doughty grows a pair. Will just get more and more PPs for the Flames.
