Vermette of the Ducks just slashed a linesman for no reason.

An announcer suggested he was tapping the official for dropping the puck too soon resulting in an unfair face-off, but he didn't elaborate beyond that.

Laine had another hat trick, including an ENG.

I'm not a huge believer in puck luck, but the Stars are having a really tough time getting any.

The incident occurred following a faceoff at the 12:27 mark of the third period. After losing the draw, Vermette apparently became upset with the way linesman Shandor Alphonso dropped the puck and extended his stick to make contact with Alphonso's back.

Vermette was issued a game misconduct for abuse of an official. It's likely he'll face a suspension from the NHL, depending on how the league rules.

If officials file the play under"physical abuse of official," Vermette could receive an automatic ban of three, 10 or 20 games based on the category of severity that's assigned — I, II or III. Category Icarries the harshest suspension of at least 20 games.

He's getting 10 for sure, unless the Player's Union objects.

Nyquist got 6 games and a fine. Probably should've got a few more games, but he's not a repeat offender and Spurgeon didn't get injured.

Guessing neither Beaulieu or Galchenyuk will get even a fine, but then they play for a certain team that never seems to get meaningful suspensions. Seriously, when was the last time? The corpse of Douglas Murray getting suspended twice in a row?

That "some backup" was great last year, with .920 SVS% and 2.60 GAA in 30 starts. He's had a rougher going this season, but let's hope he can stop the Leafs tonight. CBJ as a whole has started the game well. And 2-0!

Wow, thought hope was lost on the Panthers dropping points tonight. But they're going to OT.

Shame Bruins legend Martin Jones allowed 5 goals on 18 shots (he had two saves afterwards for 5 in 20 total).

The Luongo injury looks serious

He could be out a while

Since this is the out of town thread.

Bettman says that the Hurricanes are not relocating to Quebec.

What if no one that wants to buy the team from Karmanos and keep them in Carolina? That was the situation in Atlanta.

It is hard to believe that Quebec paid for the arena without at least a wink and a nod.

If the Coyotes move it would probably be to another Western city since the league wants two even conferences.

I don't see why there isn't greater flexibility in the conference set up, it shouldn't dictate the location of franchises. There are less major cities in the west so there should be fewer teams. Doesn't seem like a big problem to me.
