Like cagney mentioned, that line had a pretty strong game but I also would've liked to see more finish from White .. it's more of a nitpick than a criticism, as he had more than a few scoring chances, and that's only an issue in tighter games than this one, which wasn't remotely even.

Thanks. Let's hope he can pick that up going forward.

I had to watch the game on demand, just finished it. People are pretty much spot on with the forwards from what I saw. One of the posters mentioned Milano tried to do to much and I thought the same thing. It was just a few shifts in the 1st, most of the time he was fine but I remember thinking he better not try and go around the world in his own zone to often or he's going to get his team in trouble. Yeah the D wasn't challenged enough, hard to comment, but they also made it look easy as UMass was entering the zone their gap control was good and created clean turnovers most of the time. Only real D breakdown was when Collins and Krys were caught flatfooted and a UMass forward split between them for a prime scoring chance. Thought Borgen played well, especially below the goal line with pressuring along the wall and winning 50/50 puck battles and getting it up to the forwards. That's one more thing I wanted to mention, this is a pretty skilled puck moving group as far as being offensive minded goes. They made the transition game look really smooth tonight. Bigger test against Finland coming soon.

what do you guys think of fortunato and hitchcock? Not in large roles but fortunato can run a pp and hitchcock could look good on the 4th line.

why no Garland? It would have been interesting to see the player that is tearing Q apart

Lots of discussion about some big omissions (including Garland) has already taken place. Go back to page 22 of this thread, which is when the camp roster was announced, and start reading.

It's pretty hilarious to see people blasting USA Hockey for leaving off players that largely a) they've never seen before, but have formed an opinion based on draft position or prospect reports OR b)are prospects of their favorite team, therefore are supergood future franchise players and how could they not ride shotgun on Auston Matthews' wing?

Smarter people than you are making these decisions. People that see all the players, not just one or two, and not just in highlight clips on youtube. Does it always work out? No. Do politics seemingly sometimes get involved? It looks that way. Is EVERY player left off the result of said politics? No.

What makes them smarter in general then anyone else? A coach do not become coach because his awesome skills at taking out the right players, he become coach because maybe education in some coach like program, having the right connections etc. He is probably better at training and coaching then most normal people are. But taking out the right players has nothing to do with it with them being the coach.

But with that said, you are probably right that when it comes to junior players, that many that writes here have not seen them at all, but it is not like it is the first time coaches in all countries at all level and all kinds of sport make horrible just horrible decension when it come to who you shall take out in a team. Many times it absolutly feels like they are overanlyzing it.

To me hockey is very much about momentum, and you keep that momentum easilier if you have skillfull players in all the lines and all the d-men pairs, so you just can keep on pushing. Otherwise we would see far more upsets, because even smaller nations can many times have a couple of really good players, what seperates them from the big nations is deph.

But maybe players like Garland would sucks I do not know, but I would love to see him.

I think the vitriol being lobbied for the "snubs" is a bit misguided. Some really good prospects were gonna be cut from USA's forward group one way or another. There's a lot of talent up front for the US this year. Not every good player can be there.

You're right but it's not worth trying to get the point across to some people. No matter who USA didn't invite, no matter who they cut, some people would still blast USA Hockey. I was also surprised by Kyle Connor and Roslovic. But it's over with and this team still looks pretty damn good and Canada will see it on boxing day. Enough of the damn Garland talk, he's over rated. I've watched him play against the best in Team USA camps and he doesn't impress.

yeah but Masters had it almost immediately as well which was what I found odd, when I saw he tweeted it out I assumed it had been news for a little while and came here to see what people were saying(because people had been talking about having Bellows on the team on the last page), and realized it only just happened and the Canadian guys usually aren't on the American cuts right away.

seriously, who cares.

They could invite the best players, and then cut whoever doesnt play well.

They didn't do that, hence the big issue everyone had with it.

Has the US made a decision on a starter? Or is it going to be 1A 1B until one takes the job?

when is the 1st usa game, canada has had pre tourny games, but not the usa?

In two days the U.S. plays Finland, they just played UMass on Friday. I wish they played another one but camp started almost a week later than Canada's, so not a whole lot of time to play another one after Finland before the opener. They already have some built in chemistry from a lot of these guys playing together either last year or two years ago.

I made a comment that it surprised me that was all. That would have been it had a bunch of people not replied asking me about it. Apparently I'm not allowed to explain it. Geez take a chill pill.

Canadians care, because it lets them **** on the US before the tournament starts.

huh? How is saying I'm surprised I got the info from Mark Masters first ******** on the US? You'll have to explain that one to me :shakehead

Man some of the things that get people all wound up here never cease to amaze me.

Is Nedeljkovic the undoubted number 1?

Still up in the air. He started the exhibition game vs. UMass, but they each got pretty much equal playing time and looked good for what it's worth against an inferior team. I would think Ned plays the whole game against Finland, if he impresses then gets the start on boxing day. Not official, but I think he's the number 1 guy right now yeah.

I believe that both Canada and USA starting off is most unfortunate
I don't give USA that much of an advantage in the chemist department
This game is going to be quick and entertaining and both coaches will express their displeasure with the play
But it will be more entertaining than the NHL
Hopefully we will meet in the Gold medal game

I wasn't comparing the two in the chemistry department, was just using it as an example of why USA may have started their camp a little later. Don't really need the extra week to gel certain players. And yeah I agree, this is my favorite tournament in hockey.
