Mmmh.. Descloux played at a way better level this year. He played for Geneve in NLA and Pottelberghe played at junior level in Sweden. It could be a decision breaker.
Descloux has not convinced me in the last WJC. Pottelberghe was good at WJC18 but yes i see your point, maybe its a experience vs. talent decision.

It could well be that Descloux gets the first game and Van Pottelberghe the second (or the other way round) and then they decide on a number one. I don't see a clear favourite. Van Pottelberghe was solid at the WJC18, but not more.

Schweri is injuried and ll be still be out during the tournament. It is why he doest appear on anylist.

Actually I believe the starter is open between all the three goaltenders. Ludovic Waeber has a pretty good chance to be the No 1A... He and Pottelberghe play similar. Both solid positioning with very good composure. Also both have good size. So I wouldn't rule out Waeber...

Descloux is the most athletic of the three and has a great never give up attitude.

I personally would choose Descloux as my starter, as I believe he is the most talented of the three, but it sure isn't my choice...

Any news about Fiala? Is it official he won't be release by Nashville?

Nope, haven't heard anything positive, nor negative....

But I can't see any reason why they wouldn't loan him... He struggles big time in the AHL and the WJC could give him a confidence boost...

Although Switzerland needs a humble Fiala and not the *lookatmeimthesuperstar* Fiala.... :sarcasm:

The 2nd evening practice looked little bit better with 22 players on the ice.

Missing was Pius Suter, who got some physio care and didn't hit the ice.

The line-ups during practice where:

Team Red
-----------
Roger Karrer - Jonas Siegenthaler
Marco Forrer - Tim Dubois

Noah Rod - Denis Malgin - Damien Riat
Calvin Thürkauf - Dario Meyer - Chris Egli

Team White
-------------
Fabian Heldner - Simon Kindschi
Edson Harlacher - Andrea Glauser

(Timo Meyer) - Johnny Kneubühler - Tino Kessler
Auguste Impose - Dominik Diem - Kris Schmidli
Nico Hischier - Julien Privet - (Timo Meyer)

With two of his potential Line-mates missing (Pius Suter and maybe Kevin Fiala), Timo Meyer played the extra forward... I think if Fiala gets loaned they will travel with 7 D and 13 F to Finland and probably one of Tim Dubois or Andrea Glauser will be the odd man out, while three forwards would need to go. The forward-bubble players in my eyes are Dominik Diem, Johnny Kneubühler, Tino Kessler, Julien Privet and 99-born Nico Hischer... While he doesn't look out of place, you can see a slight difference in speed and quickness... And it seems that they aren't able to give him an offensive role and being on a checker line it would be a waste of his talent...

For a player playing in AHL, I have difficulties to understand. Besides, it could had been a buster for Fiala. I would understand 100% if he was in NHL.

Was looking forward to watching Fiala+Meier. Logic seemed dodgy at best.

I can be wrong but I don't think it's Nashville that don't want to release Fiala (They decided to loan Kamenev to Russia, so why one can go and not the other?)
I know it could seem odd, but is it possible that it's Switzerland, for some reason, that didnt want Fiala? Or it's Fiala who was not interested to participate at that tournement?
A poster (rafik soliman) said he haves a "superstar" attitude. Could it be a reason?

I doubt it's the Swiss management that decided not to bring him. They need him BADLY, ego or not. It may well have been Fiala's choice not to come.

It is conformed now, was Fiala's choice.
I have troubles to understand his devision, a change of scenery might do him good and the Swiss federation would need him now, they supported him since he was a young boy.

This is disappointing. Team Switzerland look good this year and I thought they could surprise. But without Fiala it's going to be more difficult.

well that's really disappointing.. :( but on the other side what should the team do with a player who is not 100 % interested to play.

Dominik Diem has been cut, after the preliminary camp in Lenzerheide.

So there are still 8 D, 14 F and 3 G active.

The Swiss will Play Finland and Slovkia in two pre-tournament Exhibition games.

No information. But i would put a piece on Descloux. He plays at a higher level than the two others.

As Descloux and Van Pottelberghe played in the preparation games it's pretty clear that it is between them. I'd guess each one gets one game and Fust will go with the hotter one.
