Old issue and no one sees better future.

We are small hockey country. We should be happy, that we could generate t least this boys.

Good point

Better we dont exepct another iron. Another teams will have 3 times more of Huska, Bonra and Cernak. Plus guys like Puljujärvi, Laine, Nylander ...

That is correct. But also better teams had realy bad games. Also that ones, that in 2009 and 2015 did make the semifinales. Big loose to Canada and Russia (0:8)

Im still pesimits and i think, that in 5 years we will se also this scenario.

Good luck

Should be better though no? I mean Finland has the same population as Slovakia and look at them. Something has to seriously improve with the program because it used to be a bit better obviously. Same with Czech. They are making a lot of changes now and seem to be on the way up. Is there anything the Slovak hockey federation has attempted? I know theres the U-20 Slovak team playing in the 1st league but anything else?

Next year could be problematic. Both Latvia and Denmark fielded young teams this year, building for 2016. This combined with a very ordinary Slovak U18 team, SVK will have their work cut out for them next year in Toronto/Montreal.

The performance today against Sweden was just awful.

Best Slovaks named to the tournament: G Adam Huska, D Christian Jaros F Matus Sukel

Post game comments from Coach Bokros: The players didn't enter into the game as a team in the QF of the World Junior Championships is supposed to. We are far too easy for our opponent to beat. The only player after this game that I can compliment is Adam Huska. He stopped this from becoming an even worse catastrophe. I have no other reason for comment.

Huska, as he develops further, will be great for SVK. He already is, but he'll probably only get better.

This is how it looks when kids of rich fathers play instead talented kids which are unable to play hockey due of obvious financial situation.
1996 is probably the first showcase how will look 1997, 1998, 99... born players in our "NT"
Seems that Czechoslovak hockey will fall in very deep mire.

Huska ? Godla was 2 times better then Huska and where is he now ?

Playing as starter for Finnish Mestis (tier 2) club Hermes. And is not doing bad by any means. People are already talking that he could be a Liiga goalie next season.

Which would not be too shabby a place at all for a netminder who's only 21 by then.

I'm sick of listening to this. I know a number of kids who come from rich family, who do play hockey quite good. And on the other hand, there's plenty of players from poor families who suck. There's no correlation. It's not good that hockey is not affordable for many families, but those kids from families that can't afford bringing thier kids to the ice rink, will not save our hockey.

First thing - philosophy of our hockey and our national teams are fundamentally bad. We're focusing too much on U18 and U20 Worlds, we're doing everything in order to succeed there but as last year showed, success doesn't mean anything. We're not producing strong individuals. And if few of them appear, they usually play abroad. First of all, I would dissolve U18 and U20 national teams development projects. It doesn't help us to produce strong individuals. We need to work harder on club level, but that's something that SZĽH can just barely control. People from Slovakia are just simply lazy and junior and youth hockey doesn't attract potential sponsors, therefore many clubs just don't pay attention in terms of their junior teams. However, there are few nice exceptions like Trnava, Púchov, Partizánske or Trenčín (from bigger clubs) and they just prove that lack of money is not the main issue (although it would help us a lot...).

I believe you were in Púchov in December at U17 4 Nations Tournament and you watched Slovak 1999 birthyear...

No way 99 kids are weak. I believe it's the group of players like Roman, Hrehorcak, Krivosik, Feheravy, Ruzicka and maybe some more. That age group will be very good, at least it projects so. That year's draft should be the best for Slovakia in years, so many talented forwards (Lately you have been only producing defensemen or goalies).

Exactly, it's getting really annoying, listening to how all the issues in our hockey are caused by rich dads and we have poor Gretzkys hiding somewhere out there...

Huska ? Godla was 2 times better then Huska and where is he now ?

1. Its not fair to compare performances at different ages. Godla last year was a 19 year old, Huska this year is an 18 year old. Next year would be a better time to compare them.

2. Just because Godla played the best he's played at any point in his career during that one tournament doesn't make him a better prospect than Huska. Huska has a much better skill-set as a goalie, Godla's a great athlete, but has a lot of work to do to become to get to a good level. Huska's a lot more polished.

3. Huska's development is going much better, he's been the best goalie in the USHL, and will probably be playing college hockey next season. Godla's great tournament last year only got him a contract in the second division in Finland.
