I expect Russian roster to be very similar to last year's U-18s plus Lazarev. Hopefully someone breaks out in goal and mb Korostelev/Trenin/Tyanulin/Kornaukhov(assuming he can play for Russia already?)....I would say 50/60% of best 96th and 60% of 97th is in the chl right now and more may come.
Goaltending is a huge problem though for 96.

96-born Alexander Georgiev has been really good in Finland this year. Could play full time at SM-Liiga next year, so might be worth a shot.

Any shot for a guy like Dmitry Zhukenov? Is he on the radar at all?

Russia doesnt like to take players from the CHL unless if they are really good like Provorov. Even Scherbak didnt make it last year i think.

CHLers can make the team, as long as they're good enough. Scherbak failed to make last year's WJC because of his commitment, or lack thereof (skipped WJC camp, lackadaisical effort at the SSS).

Anyways:

Guryanov - Svechnikov - Pilipenko
Kaprizov - Kamenev - Dergachyov
Kuzmenko - Kraskovsky - Korshkov
Afonasievsky - Svetlakov - Lauta
(Lazarev, Khairullin, Letunov)

Provorov - Dervuk
Sharipzyanov - Rykov
Sergeev - Boikov
Zhulidikov - Mikulovich
(Tsvetkov, Nazarkin)

Samsonov
Georgiev
(Trushkov)

I am glad our rosters have some overlap. Of course I am largely guessing the line combos. Yours look good too.

Agree that Svetlakov has a good shot to make the team.

No mention of Radel Fazleyev? He's playing pretty damn good in Calgary (WHL), 19 years old, very good versatile forward.

Do you think there is only slim chance for him? I think he deserves to be on the team. I thought that he will be on WJC.

Maxim Letunov has had a very impressive start in the NCAA - will he be on this team?

Nobody knows. Coach Bragin is aware of him.

I think the more valid valid question is will he be released for the training camp? Because he certainly will not be guaranteed a spot.

Fazleev is playing in the Superseries, which means he is being considered.

Is Russia not interested in Pavel Karnaukhov? He got an invite to Belarus' camp, played with Russia at U18s.

This year we got better centers anyway (and also got a pretty good competition at C for the next year), not to mention that he was rather indecisive about choosing which country to represent. I guess he have chosen Belarus, I'm totally fine with that.

By the way, looks like Nashville will release Kamenev for WJC. :yo:

Is Svechnikov playing C for Russia this year? Thought he was a winger, no?
