The Jets have made one "NHL player" trade since they moved to Winnipeg. This trade involved Peter Budaj.

You guys think Howson/Kekalainen were timid? Cheveldayoff makes them look like high rollers.

Not arguing with you.. just saying they can't afford to wait. If they wait it might be a new GM making the move in the off-season. Supposedly Chevy could be out if they don't make the playoffs this year.

Nothing at all, unless the value going the other way is based on the expectation that he'll hit 40 or possibly even 50 someday. He's a more physical version of Nash, only with less of a touch around the net.

I doubt anyone would expect 40 or more; I think the trade would be made with expectations of 50-60 on a regular basis with the possibility of 60-70 as a ceiling. I'd take that.

I'd like Kane on the Jackets, but Rychel might be a bit too rich.. Maybe if the pick is more like a 3rd + Atkinson + Rychel, but that's still pushing it for me. I'd sooner trade Anisimov AND Atkinson.

So you'd trade Atkinson, Anisimov and Rychel all before you'd trade Wennberg? Why?

- Teams will be awed by Kane's potential, not realizing that (in my opinion) he's already peaked. 30 goals, 60 points, and physical play is what you're likely to get....35 goals is best-case.

I don't mean to pick on you. Its fascinating to me how many people on these boards are like 10 years behind when it comes to individual players stats. Had to hear a lot of it during the Dubinsky and Foligno contract talks. "1st line" caliber players aren't all putting up 80+ points a year anymore..

I also wanna add, how has nobody brought up the Vancouver connection yet?? I really wonder if Joey and Kane are buddies or known each other well. This is our biggest and probably cheapest possibility "available" to replace Horton. Now that he wants a change he's gonna want to prove (all of the hockey world essentially) that HE wasn't the problem. Maybe he really just didn't get along very well with a lot of his teammates there. I think now with the teammate "issues" coming out that he'd want even more to prove what he can be, either to himself or others. Who really cares if its in spite of other players or another organization.

Hate me all you want but I'd rather trade Wennberg and Wiz over Atkinson/Rychel/Anisimov and Tyutin.

They could use 1 of our d men and move Buff up with whatever forward we give up. I'd guess they'd want at least 1 of Atkinson/Calvert/Anisimov/Letestu coming back for this year. They all have pretty "different" values so the plus could be quite different. No way I trade Johnson over Tyutin or Wiz.

Letestu, Atkinson, Wennberg for Kane
Wiz/Tyutin, Wennberg, Atkinson, Letestu for Kane and Burmistrov
Wiz/Tyutin, Wennberg, Letestu for Kane

Traded two stiffs. One guy hasn't played all year other guy has 0 pts in 7 games.

Unless they were at the contract limit this doesn't seem like a big deal.

If a package is being floated around for Kane that is said to have a price of a 1st-rounder, a top prospect, and another piece (presumably a top-six forward or a top-four defenseman), then it had damn well better be for someone with perennial All-Star potential. A mere "first-liner" won't do it; the cost is way too high.

I don't hate you; I think you're a damned fool.

Byfuglien has zero interest in playing forward on a regular basis again.

I would not trade Wennberg as part of a deal for Kane; Wennberg is likely to end up at the same level or higher and only needs time.

I wouldn't add a defenseman to get Burmistrov.

Keep in mind that I like Kane and I really like Burmistrov. I'd gladly perform human sacrifice to get both players in Columbus, but not at the additional cost of overpaying out of the CBJ system or roster to bring them in.

Awful high evaluation of Wennberg... I must have missed when he has shown that type of potential this season.

Why would anyone want to trade a young player/prospect this year? You do that when you are trying to add one player to make a deep run in the playoffs. We need to keep our team together, except for a few players we don't plan on having on our team in the future. Now is not the time to trade futures.

I wouldn't mind trading one of our young defencemen.

RDriesenUD is referring to our top young guys. As in Wennberg, Murray, Rychel, Dano, Milano, etc. I don't think anyone has much of a problem dealing Goloubef or Prout

To get a really good player you have to give to get. As many on here are fond of sayimg "why do you want to trade for an untested player?" By that token, to me Rychel, Dano, Milano and Bjorkstrand and to a great extent, Wennberg are untested players. So in trading one or more of them for a proven player or a draft prospect with a much higher projected ceiling (Eichel, Hanifin) we'd in effect be trading unknown for unknown in the case of moving up in the draft or obtaining a proven player if we were trading for an established NHLer. If a team was willimg to make such a trade I'd seriously consider it.

Nothing in Kane's history suggests he has the kind of "character" that would make JD and JK target him for acquisition.

True, but

1) We're talking about off-ice character. On the ice Kane plays total Blue Jackets hockey, and doesn't back down, even when he's playing hurt.

2) A lot of young men grow up with a change of scenery. I don't know if that would work with Kane, but it might.

Edit:

3) But then again, another quality that Jarmo highly prizes is hockey sense, and Kane is somewhat limited in that regard. He's a good passer standing still but has terrible vision on the move.

If Kane isn't playing in Winnipeg, I don't think these character concerns are an issue.
