If it is indeed only a first, that is one less team to worry about. I can't believe Boston would essentially concede a season.

It has to be Giordano coming back, I don't think Calgary could afford him.
Calgary has loads of capspace, whereas Boston..

Unless they're just looking to the deadline and trading Giordano again.

edit: Wait what, only a 1st round pick? Makes zero sense.

Read (not confirmed) that it was just for a 1st rounder. If that is the case, then its a steal for the Flames. Unless Boston does something amazing, their defense is going to be bad.

It won't be. It will be 15th + a somewhat significant piece.

Flames have

1st
2nd
2nd (Canucks)
2nd (Caps)
3rd
3rd (Caps)
5th
6th
7th

That's a pretty poor haul for a guy like Hamilton.

Ok so it was an offer sheet. So Boston gets (based on his salary) $5,478,986 to $7,305,316 First-, second-, and third-round pick

So Hamilton to Calgary for a 2016 1st, 2nd, 3rd. I still love it for the Flames

No its not. Its a 1st, and two 2nd rounders. Offer sheets arent allowed to be signed until free agency starts, I believe.

There's no way around it, that's a terrible trade for Boston. Their d-core is even more screwed now.

I don't understand why? Boston's defense is terrible. I agree with that person who mentioned the Coyotes, I'm guessing they're gunning for Hanafin, or else this makes no sense.

So Boston trades Kessel, gets picks and drafts two studs in Sequin and Hamilton...

... and then trades them for pennies on the dollar.

Go Boston go!
