Reassess 72 hours before the trade deadline.

I'm ok with this idea but it might be to late by then. Right now we are 5 points out of the playoffs and 7 points away from a top 5 pick. Its going to be harder to get in than get a top pick but the Kings can do it, if anyone can. I just don't see them this year being able to keep up the playoff level play for long. Even if they get on a run and make the playoffs, I don't see them getting passed the 2nd round. I'd rather get a great pick in a deep draft then struggle in the playoffs for an early exit.

I'd be looking for

1)McDavid/Eichel/Hanifin if we luck out with 1st
2)Zacha/Kylington/Crouse if 5-10
3)Svechnikov/Provorov/Roy/Meier/Konecny after 10

I don't see it being too late because no one will pass on Justin Williams. and Robyn Regehr and Jarret Stoll will still be attractive to teams looking for playoff depth

I've seen this said a few different ways and a few times now and am wondering if you can explain what you mean to me or how it would work. If we cut bait and trade Rrgehr Williams Stoll Greene etc to teams that are in the hunt for a cup for 1st round picks then wouldn't they likely be drafting farther down the list? I suppose we could move our pick plus whatever other 1st round picks we would get from these deals to move up but I don't see anyone of the bottom 3 teams moving their picks this year let alone the bottom 5. I am just curious. I think I could be missing something or something is being lost in the translation.

Just because I am saying we should trade pending UFA's doesn't mean I believe we will get top picks for them

Noah Juulsen. In my commentary, I remark on the number of minutes he gets, while playing in all situations. In a lot of ways, I look at him similarly to Roland McKeown. He's also the youngest regular blueliner on the team, which also happens to be one of the top defensive teams in the WHL.

5 points out now - i like RP's idea.

And now two points out, on a five game winning streak, with two games in hand on the team ahead of us. Who we play next.

That's why you don't give up on the season so early. Yeah, we could lose to SJ and fall four back of them, we'd still have games in hand. Or we could win and be tied and looking at going even higher. There's way to many games to go before you go to plan B.

I thought we didn't play SJ until Sat?

Maybe, didn't look at the schedule just going off the top of my head so maybe I missed a game or two.

Point is its foolish to just want to sell off assets for futures at the trade deadline because you are five points out one month before. Moreso when the team in question is the defending cup champions.

I agree entirely with your point and haven't waivered from that position yet.

I am may be wrong also on the schedule as I stopped checking who we play next ahead of time. I just look at the TV schedule or these boards to find out day by day. It kind of makes it exciting. The only way I know about SJ on Sat is it is the outdoor game that has been being hyped forever. You should check to see for certain.

Need to win like nine in a row or something like 12 of 15. To really right the ship.

Five wins in a row is a good start.

Five in a row is a great start based on who we've played and it's exactly what was needed for this team's psyche!

Just now got around to watching a few of those, great work KP!

Right now, we control our own destiny. The ship is righted. Now we need to just be slightly better than the rest of the teams over the next 26 games and come the playoffs we could be in a really good spot. We are only three points behind Vancouver and Calgary for 2nd in the Pacific.

Someone requested a goalie, so I figured I'd do a video on MacKenzie Blackwood. This one came out a little rough; I was dead tired when I provided my commentary.

When you're in a spot where you legitimately may not make the playoffs, you HAVE to consider flipping your UFAs. What would be the point in letting them walk? That would be senseless.

As RP stated, we would have waited until the TDL was very close before even considering it. Now the time is here, and we're going all in for the playoffs.

Which is what I said. Just go with it until you know one way or another, not start rambling on about selling one month before the deadline when we were five points back.

You don't just jump in three days before. You have to plan ahead, and then come evaluation day you decide to either scrap those plans or move ahead. Not looking into it one month ahead is how you end up having no options but trading Justin Williams for a 4th round pick straight up.

Sigh. No ****.

Again, you can plan without rattling on about it. Guaranteed DL has planned for both buying and selling at the deadline, he's not talking about it much, same with most other teams on the bubble. Odds are there is a dozen deals already lined up like dominoes around the league. Doesn't mean you need to look for a board consensus on buying or selling one month ahead.

You're definitely overreacting

I'm messing around in a mock draft and ran across this kid, and thought he would fit the Kings' style quite well. Does anyone know more about him? He might be a solid pick late in the 1st round {30th ;)}, or maybe with Toronto's pick in the 2nd round. Dean may be moving a pick here shortly though.

C (LH) Alexander Dergachev, SKA Saint Petersburg (KHL) 6ft 4in - 200 lbs.

Alexander Dergachev is load to handle pivot who packs skill in a massive frame. A polished skater already, Dergachev is strong, powerful, and boasts coordination rarely seen in a young guy with his size. He is a menace along the boards when he has the puck because he can protect it well and give opposition fits with strong cycling. In open space he has enough skill to stickhandle, and packs a heavy shot in his arsenal. He brings a hard nosed brand of hockey, as he finishes his checks hard and often. Not a defensive stalwart like most at this age, Dergachev backchecks hard and gives great effort in his own zone

I don't think we have Toronto's 2nd. At least from what I'm seeing, we sent the TOR 2nd to Columbus in the Gaborik deal and we re-acquired and kept our 2nd (from Buffalo).

I'm seeing that here: 2015 Draft Pick Ownership

I was under the impression that the Toronto pick was going to Columbus as part of the Gaborik deal?

Edit: Jimmy beat me to it. Got pulled away from my desk for 20 minutes before hitting reply :)
