Please look at this guy; projected 2nd rounder; 6.4,227, he is a beast

I really hope we draft him. He is Bobby Holik-type of player. Never gonna be a big scorer (maybye 15 goals, 40 points at best), but very useful player anyway.

He was the top scorer in MHL playoffs and looks perfect for Kings system

Thanks to Bad Will

Lewis; Bernier

Lewis and Bernier technically weren't his draft with his staff. Al Murray was still in charge and he went along with what his staff put together. I honestly believe Bernier was taken more to try and impress the new boss rather than wanting to pick him. Had Taylor still been GM, no way in hell Bernier is taken and probably drafted Jiri Tlusty. Murray was fired shortly after the draft.

The secret is out on DGurrrr.

I think he is going to be one of those kids who you can't justify taking in the top ten but when it is all said and done will be right there with the kids who are taken then. Guryanov is not only a dangler but he is one driven kid and man can he skate.

I still stick with what I have said from the first page or two of this thread.

IF Zacha is there or close to there I think we would draft him at 13. If he isn't

Connor
Mier
Svechnekov

Barring any one of the uber kids dropping to us or making any trades that changes our first round pick that is how I think our 1st will go. If Ahl falls to us in the 2nd I could see him being a player that we would make a push for but we would have to be lucky.

Edm16/Win17/Ott18 all have two 2cd rounders. I wonder if LA will look at talking to them about moving back and nabbing an extra pick.

The more I read about this draft the more I'd prefer if the Kings bit the bullet and traded up instead of back. Quality over quantity, especially without a first next season. Though a case can be made to trade back and get picks for next season as well.

Would love Zacha but dont think we can get him. I think we draft Konecny with all the Ottawa connections

i would want a 2016 2nd round pick to help offset not 1st next year.
All three of those teams are not contenders so next year's pick should be safe

That's great but the thing about the deep draft this year is those players in the 2cd round are that much better.

Maybe, likely not.

When you look back at drafts that people say are deep or weak they usually are pretty equal after the first 15 picks. There's the odd exception, 2003 for example, but there's also a reason for 2003. That was the year the rule about opting in was dropped so it basically made two years of college kids eligible in the same year, as a result nine college or about to be college kids were picked in the first round. Guys like Ryan Suter for example in past years would have had to wait a year to be drafted as if they opted in they'd lose their college eligibility.

1979 was big too, but again there was a reason. That year was when the age of the draft went from 20 down to 18, meaning basically three years of eligible players were combined into one.

Almost always, the drafts are very comparible, especially after the top 15 picks. When we are talking 2nd rounders, I wouldn't even consider if a draft is being called 'deep' or 'weak'. The odds of getting a useful to good player are about the same.

Interesting points. I still think some of these 2cd rounders would be first in weaker drafts.

If anything if LA had two seconds in 16 they may be able to package them up.

Regarding the draft list, whenever I see the following defenseman's name, I always think of a rather hairy actor (though just briefly=)

Roy, Jeremy

I remember that '79 draft. Jay Wells, Mark Hardy, Dean Hopkins .... The Kings definitely got bigger, which was their aim.

Only 22 players from that draft didn't play in the NHL. Conversely, 17 of them played at least 1,000 career games. You could have thrown darts at a spinning wheel and still made out great in that draft.

The closer we get to the draft, the more I think LA moves from the 13 spot. Not sure if it's up or down, just off the 13 pick. I'm more confident of that move than I am of who they choose.

LoL, I brought this up in 2003. It goes by Chinese astrology ...... every 12 years......

1979
1991
2003
2015

Dean should have been prepping for this draft YEARS ago......

Why? Most of these prospects are going to be Year of the Rat. The Rat is the most intelligent and ambitious/competitive of the Chinese Zodiac. They're a bunch of winners.....

Well, I'm convinced. Trade the 2016 draft for the 2015 draft! All in!
