1 goal so far from Dalek Lazarev and Dalek Lindblom. Dalek Val is in net for Finland and only faced 2 shots in the first from Belarus. Probably won't score big to day but I'll get a few points

List of things I didn't expect to happen today:

1. DeBrincat gets kicked out for a spearing penalty.

The dude only has 12 penalty minutes this season. Le sigh.

Canada is trying to be a little too cute right now. They're moving the puck really well but trying to make the perfect pass before shooting. They've had a lot of luck getting the puck into the soft spot in the slot - if they start shooting from there they'll score.

Canada blending these lines? Looks like Virt/Perlini separated, and Marner/Strome on different lines as well

He probably could have punched Konecny in the face and received a less severe penalty. Feel bad for the kid, there's just no grey area in the rule.

Zboril got kicked out this morning too, only 9 penalty minutes this year. At least Debrincat shouldn't have to worry about a suspension?

Any game misconduct is reviewable at this level, wouldn't be surprised if he gets a game or two

I'm not loving Marner's game so far. He has some nifty puck skills but he turns the puck over a lot. Gauthier looks like he could be a good pick for the Oilers if they draft around 8 overall. There are lots of wingers with size in this draft which bodes well.

Well my Tkachuk leech plan worked. That's about the only thing that worked.

I have to say this is looking like one of the weakest canadian teams in years

Completely agree. I thought their defensemen looked all right but their forwards are as weak as any team I can remember.

As a side note:
Whoever has been complaining about Chiarelli trading that pick for Reinhart instead of drafting Barzal needs to stop. This guy is never going to be a regular in the NHL. He's too small to begin with and he's a disaster waiting to happen when he has the puck. I know he scored a goal today but he was a turn over machine all game. IMO, the game turned on him. The Canadians had all the momentum in the third period and his unpressured give away resulted in the face off that led to the winning goal. That smurf is the last player our lineup needed. He struggles too much against teenagers, how bad would he be against men?

Not a terrible first day for my team but I'm definitely a little worried about my defencemen. Saarijarvi should put up some points but I picked him over Juolevi (who had two points today) and I took Krys over Pettersson who had two points today as well. Krys is the one who worries me because he didn't see much icetime tonight and it seems like he won't get any powerplay time.
