Team Leftovers?
I think it's always fun. A few suggestions:

Goalie:
Brandon Halvorson (USA)
Felix Sandstrom (SWE)

Defence:
Gabriel Carlsson (SWE)
Marcus Pettersson (SWE)
Brandon Corlo (USA)
Joni Tuulola (FIN)
Sami Niku (FIN)

Forwards:
Julius Naatinen (FIN)
Jens Looke (SWE)
Denis Malgin (SUI)
Pavel Kraskovsky (RUS)
Alexander Dergachyov (RUS)
Pius Suter (SUI)
Alexander Polunin (RUS)
John Quenneville (CAN)
Filip Chlapik (CZE)
Noah Rod (SUI)

If no one else has any suggestions we can just roll with it.

I'd switch Looke out for Noah Rod, I don't think Looke is on a line? I'd also give them Pastrnak just for the lolz.

I'd be fine with that. The goaltender situation is 50/50 but with Sweden getting lit up in the previous game, Sandstrom has a decent chance to get some games in.

I'd probably take Chartier over Quenneville, I might be inclined to find a spot for Aleksi Saarela too.

Quenneville is starting out on a line with Marner and Strome so it's tough not to take him (over Chartier who is starting on the "fourth" line). If Quenneville sticks on that line, he's going to make a lot of people feel bad.

I'd be fine with Rod or Saarela over Looke (either or).

Let's do Saarela. I agree with Quenneville. Looks like the defense and goaltending we're in silent agreement.

I like Will Borgen(USA) on defence on team leftovers, almost gambled on him but did not.

Sami Niku also on Finland on d.

Definitely:
Julius Naatinen (FIN)
Pavel Kraskovsky (RUS)....lot of potential here

Possibly:
Alexander Dergachyov(RUS)
Denis Malgin (SUI)

I almost took Finnish goalie Käkhönen just because Finland always have great goalies.

Otherwise I enjoy what Cerebral has came up with and think it will beat a team or 2 guaranteed.

I think someone should take charge of leftovers(apply stats mainly) to expose some teams out there for fun. Last few years it was only a good idea.

It's nice when you know the Leftovers will have Sweden's No.1 goalie and you'll have the former guy ;)

Other than that, my only Leftover suggestion would have been on D. Pettersson is an interesting wildcard. Not sure if Niku or Tuuola get more done offensively for Finland. Also there are still the two Canadians (Hickey and McKeown) but Carlo will definitely play.

A writer projected some of the World Juniors here for the round robin http://www.worldjunior2016.com/en/news/predicting-the-group-stage/

Also Soli, are you aware that Guryanov was cut from the final Russia team? I just read that now because I wasn't on top of things.

I was not... Taking Pastrnak in that case.

What a horrible start. Samsanov doesn't start, William Nylander takes a headshot, JEE bumped down the lineup. Ugggggggh. Going back to bed.

Darn, I was going to take Pettersson or Carlsson with my last pick but I eventually sided with Sharipyanov. With two offensive defencemen out, it looks like these two could have big tournaments. :(
