I don't understand wanting to keep Skille when we have a slightly better version of him in Morin. We don't need both of them

As an organizational depth player, Skille has value to the team, imo.

A one year two way contract would be an appropriate deal for him.

I'm pretty sure that he's on a two way now, but capgeek.com has unfortunately ceased operations.

Release Skille we can easy. Only then again, when will an injuries or bad start, begin to blame JK or again take Skille with waiwer. I agree with Cyclones Rock about one year two way contract for hin.
For the rest my forecast following:
Calvert .........$1,2 m/ 2 years
Atkinson.........$1,7m/2 years
Letestu.......$1,7/ 2 years
Cracknell.... gone
Chaput....$0,65 2 way/ 2 years
Skille.....$1,1 2 way/ 1 years
Bobrovsky....$6-6,5/ 5 years
Leopold.....optimally throw off in the deadline
Goloubef....guy need to develop, develop in NHL. Somewhere in Carolina he will get the opportunity, may be the fifth round get for him.
McElhinney...in no case and newer.

Wow you're going to lose some of those players with those low-ball offers.

Calvert - retain but on a 1 year prove it deal
Atkinson - qualified.. if he accepts then we keep, if not we trade (might just trade him anyways)
Letestu - I could see him leaving for a more lucrative deal with a team that'll play him in their middle 6.. otherwise I would say keep him but for no more than 2.5/year if we plan on utilizing him as our 4C going forward
Cracknell - he hasn't been bad but nothing special.. I'll say he heads somewhere else
Chaput - qualify and retain
Skille - I would say 1-2 years for cheap but CBJ execs probably would scratch him rather than Boll gone, replaced by Morin
Bobrovsky - obviously signed
Leopold - traded/walk
Goloubef - traded or 1 year deal
McElhinney - gone and I don't care how

I don't know what Calvert has to prove, I'd show him more love than that

1 year prove it deal for Calvert? What else do you want him to prove? His role is clear and he's damn good at it.

I don't see Letestu wanting to go anywhere and I don't see the Jackets wanting him to leave.

Yeah I don't see a 1 year show me deal for Calvert. That's more for Atkinson if anyone. Calvert, when his game is on, is a Blue Jacket type player to a T.

Bob will either get more money or more term, and Letestu more money. I'm not sure about Cam and Cal, do they have arbitration rights? If so I think Cam will get a bit more.

Нave both. They have four full season in the NHL, which give arbitration right even at the youngest age call his first professional contract(18-19 years).
But strongly doubt that someone to make offer shteet to Atkinson and pay him more.

Yep. All over the ice and can't score. :sarcasm:

Seriously he is the kind of guy we need but at a reasonable salary. I'd love to see him as a 4th liner kind of like Detroit had with Maltby. A 4th line of Calvert-Letestu-??? could be special and depending on the ??? could cost less than 5 mill if the deals are right.

I'm not as "all in" on Calvert. He doesn't have great hands and is a bit injury-prone.

I guess he could be a Dmac type without the centering skill?

I like Calvert. Right now, he doesn't produce enough to be a middle 6 player and isn't big enough to be a great shutdown wing.
He needs to pot 12 - 15 goals a year IMO to be considered that.

At this point, he'd be a great fourth line wing if we had all of our players in the lineup. When he doesn't have the wheels going or is slowed by an injury he is pretty useless.

Please help me understand why you would give away Atkinson for nothing or expect him to sign a 'dirt cheap deal'. Did you misspell Collins?

The asset management of RFAs by some of you in this thread is mind-boggling.

Didn't realize Cam would still be an RFA, my bad. But he does need to provide more offense to stick around the lineup, because he could be surpassed by Dano as soon as next season.

Cam is interesting. I thought he was great the first month of the year. Being the small guy on a team of big guys can work. However...

with all our injuries he was a small guy on a team of small guys. Not a good fit for him.

If we get fully healthy I'd love to take a long look at Jenner/Hartnell/Foligno - Johansen - Atkinson

Atkinson's style of play (shoots all the time, resulting in shots and more shots) takes some off from Johansen's single greatest strength: shooting ability. So I wouldn't slot him in big stage role. Perhaps he and Calvert are more counter-striking options...

How many pure snipers find more than personal success in modern NHL nowadays? Without also being able to really contribute to his own team's puck possession while creating chances for his line?

Calvert - signed 1.5-2M x 2-3 years
Atkinson - signed 2-2.5M x 2-3 years
Letestu - signed 2.5M x 3 years
Cracknell - waived
Chaput - 2 way deal
Skille - maybe 2 way deal
Bobrovsky - 7M x -6 years based on Rask deal
Leopold - TDL fodder
Goloubef - 2 way
McElhinney - 800K

I do agree that with the next year Forsberg will be looking at being the starter in Springfield. It's probably the best for him though at some point they'll want him at least practicing and seeing 10-20 games against NHL talent.

Valid points. If they commit to Bob long term, which is really a no brainer at this point since he's only 26, then you essentially are developing goalie talent for other teams. The Devils were terrible at developing goalie talent because they had Martin Brodeur. That will change the focus on developing Forsberg and others to making them attractive assets to trade for teams who need goalies. If they think he's ready from a development standpoint, then he absolutely can sit and play only 20 games off the bench and if he does well in those 20 games, he'll become then next Cory Schneider and be a highly sought after commodity.

Uh just a couple of notes on the Devils. Yeah none of the backups caught fire but they weren't slouches either. Most had decent enough careers. We are talking about Johan Hedberg (vet), Weekes (vet), Clemmensen (prospect), Schwab (prosp/vet), Dunham (prosp - early 90s), Terreri (vet), etc.

If Cam is still a RFA, sign him and keep him. Use Anisimov and a prospect as trade bait for another top six right winger.
