Burakovsky, Dansk, Collberg, Forsberg, Johnson, Lindholm, Sorenson, Wennberg are players who won't be back next year. That's alot of great U20 players that won't be back, Sweden will still be good but I really can't see them a gold medal favourite with all those players lost.

Finland won't have Teravainen but will be adding Kapenen. Ristolainen won't be back either which will hurt big time and I think takes them out of the favourite group.

Russians might be good but they're roster isn't very impressive.

Czechs will be the best European team IMO, Vrana, Pastrnak, Zacha, Karabacek, Masin will help them alot.

That's perhaps a fair assessment. I think the Bronze medal game will be between the Czechs and the Swedes...with the Czechs being an even stronger contender in the 2016 tournament.

This is fair assesment. But we finns do have secret weapon up our sleeves in Juuse Saros.

Lol, Sweden lose players every year of different reasons.

2013, Sweden didn't send our best roster when all other countries had their best rosters because of the lookout in NHL.

Canada missed medal. Sweden took silver lose 1-3 in the final. Imagine if Sweden had our best team then they could have won gold instead for USA.

Also, so Sweden is only team that loses players? Don't be ridiculous. Canada and USA also loses players.

It belongs to this tournament.

Every year, I hear this ridiculous argument still Sweden has been in the final 3 years in row.

Who will they add besides Nylander that's going to help them big time? Who's going to fill the shoes? Sweden always had players to fill shoes, I still think they'll be in the Semis but they are the underdogs this tournament.

And who have Canada and USA that are so amazing except maybe McDavid and Eichel?

Forsbacka/Karlsson, De La Rose, Wallmark ect are easily better than Sweden's top scorer 2012 when we won gold.

Canada couldn't even finish ahead of Sweden even when they had their best roster and Sweden didn't have our best team. Why should they be faves now? Either Canada and USA impressed last year and I guess there will be players back.

BTW, when do think Sweden is good or favorite in anything? You seems to have an agenda against Sweden.

Last year's Sweden team should have won gold, it was like a dream team with a strong offence and a great goaltender. You want to jump on North Americans every chance you get, Pietrangelo vs Karlsson, you have a Swedish bias and that's fine but don't let it blind you.

Canada has, possibly Reinhart, Ekblad, Bennett, Dal Colle, Virtanen, Ritchie, Fleury who were all top 10 picks this year. Possibly Drouin, Duclair, Fabbri, Morrissey, Horvat, Nurse. These are high 1st rounders who did very well in their leagues. I won't speak for Team USA though.

Listen, Sweden is losing alot of their top players. There is really not alot of point in comparing last year to this year since players become ineligible or become NHLers.

Yes and they lost in OT in gold medal game. Not like Canada's dream team which even miss medal.

Lol, you think all of them will be in WJC? Well dream on. Stil, this years draft was totally weak and don't say anything about those players stands against other years. BTW, last time Canada had their best team they missed medal. Sweden took silver even without the best team. So what do the papers say?

Lol, you have bias against Sweden. You jump on Sweden on the first chance you get. Yes, Pietrangelo/Karlsson is proof on that.

Canada and USA also lose players so what is the point? Every team lose players every year. It's a part of this tournament. Still Sweden is the only team who has been in final all the latest 3 years.

Thank you now we are talking. I'm not saying USA can do well . Of course they can. But this exibhition simple don't Jean anything, at least no results. I stil, see Sweden as bigger fave.

I am tempering expectations for the US team but for the first time in a few years I don't know that I would call Sweden a bigger favorite than the US. The leaders of last years Swedish team have aged out of the tournament so citing last year's success is even less relevant than the results at this camp. The Swedish '95 group is weaker than previous birth years and the '96 group doesn't seem as strong as it appeared to be a few years back.

BTW, do you mean 2013? In 2012 Sweden won gold and USA missed medal round.

I was referring to a 10-2 US victory against Sweden at the 2012 Lake Placid evaluation camp. That was the summer after Sweden's gold medal and before the US'.

Apparently you didn't watch any of the U18 Championships this past spring. Alex Tuch, Tyler Motte, Sony Milano, Auston Mathews and Will Butcher, to name a few, have been on a tear!

Team USA looks like a well oiled machine right now.

You hate Canadians it's clear, you try to take shots like "not like canada's dream which even miss medal" that's unnecessary.

What is Canada's best team? I believe their best team was 2009 because that's when they won gold? Maybe Drouin, Reinhart and Ekblad will be the only ones gone but still Canada is better than Sweden on paper. Why are you getting offended with that? It's just on damn paper.

Oh my god, do you not understand that 3 years doesn't matter because none of those players will be playing in this years tournament? You tell me every team loses players but then you go on to say that.

I don't have an bias, you come into threads like this trying to get Sweden up there with the top. There's no need to jump in.

Yeah right. That's why USA missed medal rounds in WJC 2012 and 2014????

USA always win U-18 then why they miss medal in WJC if they are best team in the world?

If anything you hate Sweden.

You think Canada is better than Sweden on paper. Let me ask you: when was the last time you thought Sweden had better team on paper than Canada? Yeah, right.

When was the last time you NA fans actually not thought you had the best teams?

Because the latest 3 years clearly shows that Canada and USA aren't much ahead in development as you think you are.

Sweden has a very weak roster for this years WJC, USA and Canada are the favorites heading into the tournament. Wouldn't surprise me to see Sweden come 4th or 5th place

I like how you left out the US Gold Medal in 2013...how convenient.

Oh by the way great job by Sweden in 2014 WJC Gold Medal game.

Hopefully Sweden doesn't make it 3 years in row...Good Luck!

Looks like we are heading for an another epic battle on NY Eve...and I hope a 2nd. match in the final... so far it looks as the 2 NA teams are the favorites going in.

I doubt the IIHF changes the NY Eve game, I mean I hope, it's been so great. I look forward to the game every year.

I wonder if we'll see a McDavid vs Eichel match-up on the 31st or we'll see both of them getting matched up against the checkers. If any line had to match-up against McDavid other than Eichel who would it be? The Compher line?

Compher line, or the Larkin line. But I think McDavid and Eichel going head to head would be awesome.

Alot will change during the season but as of the most recent hockey that was played here's how I see the team as of now:

Milano-Eichel-Tuch
Motte-Hurley-Fashing
Erne-Compher-Haydon
Schmaltz-Larkin-Connor
Matthews

Hanifin-Santini
McCoshen-Dougherty
Butcher-Werenski
Glover

Demko
Nedeljkovic

Seeing as Hurley was cut from summer camp, I find it hard to believe he centers the second line. Also, now that I think about it, why wasn't Erne at camp? I honestly forgot all about him. He's a '95 so he's definitely eligible.

Keep Motte-Eichel-Tuch together, given their chemistry at camp; obviously anyone can succeed with Eichel but if Motte can finish his passes, which he did all camp, then it makes sense to put the highly-skilled Milano on another line for depth. In a pinch, they can reunite Milano with his U18 linemates if we're in need of a goal desperately.

The second line should be centered by Compher. Line three can either be centered by Larkin, or Matthews and put Larkin on Compher's wing. But I like the idea of going Eichel-Compher-Larkin-Matthews down the middle. It's really deep.

Milano, Fasching, Hayden, and Schmaltz can be the middle size wingers. And then run a Connor-Matthews-Erne (?) 4th line.

Unless Werenski absolutely tears it up at UMich this fall, I have a tough time imagining him making this team, even if he might deserve it. Hanifin is a clear step above him and he wasn't even invited to summer camp.

Santini, McCoshen, and Butcher are locks on D in my mind. I liked Downing, Belpedio, and Dougherty from camp. If they'd bring Hanifin and DeAngelo, this D could be excellent.

Demko is obviously going to be the #1 goaltender. I don't think his back-up matters so much, so it'll be whoever is having the best season.

Erne is hurt

Erne is hurt

Nice. I mean, not nice that he's hurt, but it adds another skilled guy to this lineup. We could ice a full compliment of forwards without icing a single grinder. That's something we've never really done.

Eichel, Milano, Tuch, Larkin, Compher, Connor, Matthews, Schmaltz, Fasching, Hayden, Motte, and Erne

Motte-Eichel-Tuch
Milano-Larkin-Fasching
Schmaltz-Compher-Hayden
Connor-Matthews-Erne
De Leo/Louis

Hanifin-DeAngelo
McCoshen-Santini
Downing-Butcher
Dougherty/Belpedio

Demko
Nedeljkovic
Halverson

This is what I'd like to see unless someone really has a stinky first half to the next season.
