Wonder if the US would bring in Zane McIntyre in as a goalie ?

I would think Schneider, Quick, Stalock, and Kinkaid would be the first choices. Montoya and Bachman are also other options as well. The rest of the American goalies are in a playoff spot.

I could still see LA making it and I would have to think Schneider will be going to try to win over the job as the World Cup goalie in 2016.

I would be intrigued if they could start out with a lineup like this from the teams that are basically out of playoff contention:

Nick Foligno - Brandon Dubinsky - Cam Atkinson
James van Riemsdyk - Jack Eichel - Tim Stapleton
Nathan Gerbe - Mark Arcobello - Steve Moses

Andy Greene - Justin Faulk
Jack Johnson - Zach Bogosian
Jake Gardiner - Connor Murphy

Cory Schneider

The only player listed above from the NHL that would be playing in the tournament as a free agent would be Arcobello but I think he would take the opportunity to impress.

If they could get the key players of this lineup they would be set up nicely to supplement this squad with some strong potential additions. Not that I expect much when it comes to players accepting invites for this tournament but I'm always hopeful anyway.

How many goalies do they bring 2 or 3? I could see Kinkaid being the back-up.

Merrill would also be another option, maybe Gomez as well -- although he probably doesn't have any desire to go.

I'm trying to think of any top players on non-playoff teams but it doesn't seem like there are many. Almost every good American player is on a playoff team.

I would love Mike Weber to come for that blueline...no reason for him to say no...and he is a hell of a player.

I wouldnt mind Gomez either...I think him and Merril would play without a doubt.

The games have been on NBC Sports the last few years. The start times are crazy but worth it to DVR.

Pavelski and Wingels would be real nice adds.
it would be funny if half of the Sharks team went to the World Championships  I mean Thornton, Marleau, Couture, Vlasic, Burns for Canada, Wingels, Braun, Pavelski, Nieto for the US, Hertl for the Czechs, Niemi for the Finns... of course, that's highly unlikely, but what if.... I assume at least Thornton and Marleau won't go

The tournament would interest me a lot more if those players went to play for their respective teams

JJ will not be playing.

#CBJ D Jack Johnson, citing "several personal reasons," will not play for Team USA. Remember the falling out he had last winger re: Olympics

I wouldn't mind Pavelski and Kessel going but I can see why they don't. The 2013 US team had the right players commit to going over.

Contracts coming up has a lot to do with committing as does where your team finishes in the standings.

I think Pavelski, Braun, Stalock, Nieto, and Wingels will all play...can't really see why any of them wouldn't as Joe Pa is having another great year and usually answers the call if not in the playoffs..

thank God we will have the Sharks and hopefully the Panthers as well to give us some troops.

forgot they have Ben Smith as well....and Matt Tennyson but doubt he would be asked...

this Calgary resurgence really sucks as Gaudreau would have been a lock..now need to wait to see if they make it and just wait until thy get bounced first round.

it would be good for JVR to go he went to his first olympics last year and he went to worlds once in 2011. he likely would of went last year if he wasn't dealing with a injury.

Yeah, highly doubt he's asked. The Sharks barely even use him.
