You should take Sexton out of that 1st line. He's useless, because he couldn't make it in the NHL.

I always hope the US puts in a respectable performance in this tournament, because the always send sub-par teams but I have a world of respect for those that answer the call. Their 2013 performance was fun to watch. However, this year's team is so, so, so, bad. Barring an influx of talent, they should consider a QF berth a successful showing. As it stands now, Jack Eichel is their best player. A guy who has never once played a game against professionals.
I always want USA to do good but... That team looks horrible, just like my team Sweden.

Take a look at the Euro-teams, they are also bad. Not only USA have a bad team this year.

What's with the piss poor teams ??? Its weird Canada is sending a decent team by its own standards but the other countries are sending crap teams by their own standards.
No, they are not. All of the teams are trying to make the best possible line-up but only Canada with their depth is still able to line-up all-star quality roster compared to other teams. Noone else. Injuries, rejections, players still playing in NHL, these are the reasons. Not like the other teams want to have weak rosters. But this USA team is real bad.

No offense to you American guys but worst case scenario: the team misses the QFs, best case scenario: they bomb out in the QFs.
...or they play the tournament so atrociously they will not auto qualify for the Olympics.
Are they even at risk of that? Forgot what their IIHF scores were but I thought they were well above the cut-off

I don't think that's possible, but even if it was, what does it matter, there won't be NHLers in 2018 anyway.
They're currently ranked sixth, it's theoretically possible but not very likely.
It's not decided yet.

The US does not play Canada in the preliminary round. And with everyone's prediction of how awful the US will probably be, they won't see Canada in elimination rounds either...according to everyone.
Guess the ones that will watch the US will just have to wait n see
