Looking forward to this tournament as I managed to get tickets for the QF!!! I'm hoping we don't make history by not making it there

Cool.. where do you sit? :) I could have had tickets for QF also but when I made the reservation I didn't have enough money to pay for it at that moment  and then it was all full... maybe there will be still some tickets later :)

Possible NHL additions

Should be almost 100% available (barring injury or trade):

Goalies: Michal Neuvirth
Defensemen: Zbynek Michalek, Roman Polak, Michal Jordan
Forwards: Martin Erat, Andrej Nestrasil

Probably will be available:

Defensemen: Marek Zidlicky, Jan Hejda
Forwards: Milan Michalek, Jakub Voracek, Patrik Elias, Ales Hemsky, Jaromir Jagr, Tomas Fleischmann, Martin Havlat

Might be available:

Goalies: Ondrej Pavelec
Defensemen: Ladislav Smid
Forwards: Tomas Hertl, Jiri Hudler, Radim Vrbata, Jiri Tlusty, Michael Frolik, David Krejci, David Pastrnak

Personally, I'd make Neuvirth our No.1 goalie, Salak as a backup, those two should be fine.
If Z.Michalek, Polak and Zidlicky join the team, then the defense should be OK.
Forwards are still pretty unclear. Big help would be Voracek and Krejci+Pastrnak.

Thoughts?

Good list.

Here's how I see it:

I personally think that Winnipeg makes the playoffs, so that excludes Frolik, Pavelec (who I wouldn't want anyway-he's terrible) and Tlusty. Likewise for Vancouver.

Ruzicka isn't a fan of Elias or Havlat, so I don't think we'll see them either. I doubt Jagr comes. Michalek is a maybe, Fleischmann hasn't been playing well enough this year to make it imo. Hurdler is tricky to predict, as he's been omitted from two olympic teams already.

Michalek and/or Polak may get traded to a playoff team before or on Monday.

I would also take Neuvirth as the no.1 but I feel like Ruzicka either won't take him or won't play him as the starter because he hasn't played for the national team before. Zidlicky will be there 100% (barring trade or injury), Ruzicka is very high on him. Krejci is out with an injury and it's unlikely he will come for the WC (even he gets healthy on time I don't think the Bruins will release him). Pastrnak I'd love to see, but I feel like Ruzicka won't take him because he didn't get a chance to see him in EHT tournaments and hasn't played for the NT before.

It doesn't look like the Sharks will make the playoffs, so Hertl would be available. However, I'm not sure that SJ will release him. I think they may get worried that he'd re-injure his knee as he did at last year's tournament. He hasn't been playing so well this year so perhaps it isn't fully 100%.

I'm not sure about the other guys.

So I think realistically we can expect Voracek, Polak, Zidlicky maybe Hemsky from the NHL imo.

From Europe, I would say that Simon will probably be there.

I'll be in sector 424 with my friend, we didn't have enough for the more expensive one

Ah damn, that's so unfortunate! I think they mentioned that there may be a chance later, so fingers crossed :)

We can cross Fleischmann off the list now as he just got traded to Anaheim.

Hudler is having a very good season so I think he will be there if Calgary doesn't make the playoffs.
If Neuvirth continues his play from last games, Ruzicka just cannot ignore that. I've read few times that Ruzicka is interested in both Neuvirth and Pavelec, so he should be there. The question is if he'll be number one or number two goalie imo.
Elias is a possibility and if he is available, I think Ruzicka takes him (even though I'm not sure if I want him there despite always being a big fan of his.. he's just getting old and not having a very good season).
I included Havlat just to make it complete but in reality he has just tiny chance to make it, I agree.
We'll see with Hertl and Krejci. Maybe the teams can kind of take into account that it is played in Czech Republic and that it is important for the players.
And I agree that it's not a sure thing Ruzicka would take Pastrnak but I don't think he'd be afraid to give him a chance. He must have seen him at WJC already where he was really good. And when even Claude Julien gave him the chance and still lets him play, that must mean something...
And for the record, I hate this attitude "never played for NT before, so I'm not taking him" which often our coaches take. Especially with NHL players. It's not like WHC is harder than NHL.

Thanks :) We'll see but if I don't get them, it won't be that big of a deal. Well, I'll just go somewhere to Fanzone to cheer :D

And hey, maybe we can get a beer togehter or something during the tournament :)

Sounds good to me, there'll be a lot to talk about

It's too early but I'll try (btw you can include even players from the first round of the playoffs)...
G: Salak, Neuvirth, Kovar (Francouz)
D: Zidlicky, Z. Michalek, Nemec, Polak, Kolar, Zamorsky, Klesla, Jordan (Kempny, Caslava, Polasek)
F: Hudler, Hertl, Voracek, M. Michalek, Kovar, Hemsky, Klepis, Sobotka, Cervenka, Zatovic, Novotny, Frolik, Koukal, Simon (Jagr/Rucinsky :), Vondrka, Filippi, Smolenak, Zohorna, Olesz)

Didn't Jagr retire from the national team?

Yes he did and there is no indication he wants to return, but a lot of people still believe he will play in Prague, because he is a national hero and it is a world championships in his home country. Head coach Růžička said, that he will talk to him (amongst other NHLers) after the trade deadline, so we will see.

Well, seems like our defense is falling apart already

Zidlicky and Z.Michalek traded so they likely won't be available unless their teams get knocked out of playoffs soon.

We still have Polak (for how long)...

That defense is gonna be grim. Ruzkicka is not gonna be happy without Zidlicky!

Hope he will play there, ending your national team career in your home country would seem appropriate.

Well, yes the defense is gonna burn. Zidlicky and Z.Michalek are arguably our best current defensmen so that's a big loss.
For a home championship it seems that we're going to have pretty weak team. A lot of guys from the NHL could be available after the first round of the playoffs though.

Yeah, it doesn't look like it'll be NHL-heavy. But like you said, some could come after the 1st round.
