He may still be playing by the time Team Canada departs for Europe, and I doubt Hockey Canada flies him with the tournament in progress.

I agree, and with the quality of the forwards already selected there is basically no chance he would get any noteworthy playing time anyway.

Ya, that OHL 1/2 final with SSM is not even scheduled yet, waiting for the other 2 series to wrap-up, so it looks like the earliest that series will begin will be late next week, meaning even a quick 4 game sweep of the Otters, Team Canada will already be somewhere in Europe or tournament already in progress. I'm fine with that. get ready for the draft and see you in the show come next October.

Actually I'm thinking about taking in the draft in Florida.

that sucks since he and Eberle were on fire at the end of the season...but on the other hand there is more room for possible additions from the 1st round.

Speedy recovery RNH!

I agree. Canada should just wait until some of the teams get eliminated from the First Round now. Wish RNH a speedy recovery.

Duchene - Giroux - MacK
O'Reilly - Spezza - Seguin
Hall - ? - Eberle
Ennis - Eakin - Toffoli

Muzzin - Burns
Savard - Ekblad
? - Barrie

Smith*
Jones

*I'd put Jones in goal but I know it's unrealistic

Sean Couturier & @Bschenn_10 have been added to #TeamCanada for @2015IIHFWorlds. ROSTER: http://t.co/5AV7Rmgddo pic.twitter.com/HSRiCRX5op

Wow, what a news! For me personally this is absolutely huge. I will go to Sweden-Canada game (I bought tickets mainly because of Giroux) and now I will see another 2 great players from Flyers for the first time in my life. It can't get any better, I can't wait. Lets go Canada, go Flyers!

not particularly excited about today's additions. Couturier? Ya, whatever. But Schenn? I had hoped we could come up with better. but can't be too picky I guess. Oh well...

I like the addition of Couturier. He's an elite defensive forward already, and I am curious to see him on the larger ice surface. I don't quite get the addition of Schenn. He'll be a willing player on the bottom lines, but I hoped for better after the first round is over. This leaves Canada with 13 forwards, so barring any further injuries only one more forward can be added.

The roster almost looks like a reunion of the 2011 junior team. either players who were there or were unavailable, Hall, Duchene, O'Reilly, Seguin, etc NHL. Can we get Mark Visentin in net? Then it would be a party. LOL

9 players so far on the roster in that age bracket. 91 or 92 birth year.

If B. Schenn can continue in performance of last 10 games then you could be very surprised with him (in a positive way). B. Schenn played RW (he hasn't played RW before) on Couturier's line and they were great together at the end of season. They could translate it to team Canada, give them some good LW and it has potential to be very effective and dangerous line. Matt Read played with B. Schenn and Couts and he slowed them all the time. He had pretty bad season.

I'm still having flashbacks. My seat was nearly perpendicular to the Canadian goal line in the third period. Johansen isn't there this time though.

Hall Giroux Seguin
O'Reilly Duchene Eberle
Eakin Spezza MacKinnon
Schenn Couturier Toffoli
Ennis

Something like this is solid. The top line looks to overwhelm with talent (I have no idea how well Hall would work as the third option on a line though) and the other three lines would all be defensively responsible. The extra addition will probably be a competent two way forward who can play on the wing.

could work. although I seriously doubt Schenn has the hockey IQ to play a big ice game....****, he barely has the hockey smarts to play on NHL ice. I'm not a fan of the player nor of his selection, but I hope he surprises me.

Couturier is a very good addition, he's a perfect fit imo for this team, good skater, good defensively and solid offensively, great playmaker. Brayden Schenn was, in my opinion, maybe the best skater in last year's team and I think he is also the perfect player for 3rd/4th line duties.

I still expect one star player from the playoffs - maybe even Crosby or Getzlaf, that's rather a long-shot though. But someone like Monahan/Tavares/or Stamkos is very possible imo. I can't imagine all of them decline the invitation and I don't believe HC wouldn't want them. After missing the olympics, Stamkos might say yes imo, Tavares has always been loyal and Monahan would go for sure if asked, imo. Any of these three guys would be a huge boost to the team.

Offense is stacked, defense and goaltending are kind of meh though.

I am loving Claude Giroux on the team.
Defence and goaltending are more than good enough imo. Smith was very solid the last time he played for Canada (2013) and Jones has played some good games this season for LA. The defence should be a very mobile and good-skating group with Burns (most points by a canadian defenseman in the NHL) and hopefully another one elite defenseman in Brodie or Keith.

Sean and Brayden will help with the PK. Pretty good 4th liners that will play a good checking line. McDavid probably won't be on the team, there's not really a need for him either. These are highly talented NHL players that are mature. I don't think the 3rd/4th lines is worth him playing in this tournament.

Defense could use another Puck moving Dman such a Rielly and the fact that Team Canada hasn't invited another dman gives me hope that he will be able to play.

McDavid won't be eliminated any time soon, so he's already out of the discussion imo.
