Assuming Boston and LA won't make it to the play-off (the same for Springfield in AHL) and Detroit won't make it too far, I would like to see this team on WHC:

Kopecký - Réway - Gáborík
Both Kopecký and Réway can play on winger and center position and I think they can complement each other pretty well. Kopecký is a big guy who can win battles around the boards and in front of the net and is defensively responsible. On the other side Réway is creative kid with skills and has got much better face-off stats. These two guys are exactly what Gáborík need next to him. Solid playmaker and tough grinder.

Nagy - Handzuš - Pánik
Handzuš is really slow these days and IMO he need to have two fast wingers next to him. He will do all the small important things for the team, while Nagy and Pánik can do some damage in offensive zone.

Miklík - Viedenský - Tatar
Miklík - Mikúš - Tatar was successful line for us on WHC lately and I hope Miklík - Tatar connection can work even with different center. IMO Mikúš is more creative than Viedenský, but Viedenský is a bit better defensively.

Tybor - Daňo - Sýkora
Tybor was tragical on the last WHC (reportedly illness) and I hope he will show his potential this time. We are really short on C position, so Daňo has to do it. He has gained some confidence in Columbus and it should be visible on the WHC. Sýkora is a dark horse among our forwards with his skills. Time to show up.

Surový, Bartovič
Surový and Bartovič are great for complementary position. Surový can play all the forward positions, while Bartovič is very good penalty killer and great skater.

Chára - Graňák
Together they played great hockey on the 2012 WHC until Graňák hurt himself. The biggest weakness of Graňák is his small body and Chára can definitely do this job for both

Sekera - Ďaloga
It would be the best skating defensive duo on the WHC  Ďaloga was probably our best defender on the last WHC and with better linemate he should be even better.

Meszároš - Baranka
The only positive thing of the Sochi Olympics was this D pairing. All we need is to do it one more time.

Podhradský - Mikuš
I'm happy Podhradský isn't such a offended boy like Záborský. He's proven offensive defender. Mikuš improved his defensive game over the years and has got great preparation for the championship.

Laco
Clear number one. No doubt.

Hudáček
Once again great season in Sweden. Finally he has to show it in NT.

Godla
Gift for the best goaltender of the 2015 U20 WHJC. ;)

Then I woke up and hear this song  :

Krotak:

Kopecký on the first line? Hell no. Have you seen him this season? (I know I put him on the second line month ago, but centre depth... :D)
I'm OK with Réway being on the first line, but as a winger not as a centre. But with out centre depth...
Also I'm not impressed with Handzuš in these playoffs, he is just too slow to be a top6 player on the international stage.
I don't think that Tybor will make the team, there are just so many better offensive wingers (if Gáborík, Tatar and Daňo will be available). I would rather have Cingeľ or Surový on the fourth line.

Agree with the defense, but Sekera - Ďaloga pairing would be first one for me.

Nice post Krotak.

Maybe Tomas Slovak can steal a spot? Been good in SHL.

I'm not sure. He is definitely behind the guys like Sersen or Starosta and on par with players such as ČereÅ¡ňák or Jánošík, but these players are much younger... ;)

Kopecký always put 100% effort when playing in Slovak jersey and IMO he complement Gáborík and Réway pretty well. I mean toughness, versatility and defensive responsibility.
I think Handzuš will be fine. Maybe if Mikúš is healthy, then it would be possible to overlook him.
I agree Tybor is huge question mark. For some reason he isn't as good in NT than in Czech Extraliga. IMO there's no problem to replace him with Hudáček, Haščák, Dravecký or even Puliš.
I heard Daňo played center in AHL, so it should be comfortable for him...

The following players are joining the team for camp/games against Sweden:

G Július Hudáček
D Christián Jaroš
F Dávid Gríger
F Peter Cehlárik
F Patrik LuÅ¡ňák

Furthermore it has been mentioned that Martin Marinčin and Marko Daňo will have to go to the AHL after NHL regular season. However it seems that we might be lucky and Daňo's Springfield might not make it to the play offs.

I don't really know what kind of result to expect from Slovakia, but there might be one off ice advantage for us as playing in Ostrava will basically be like playing on home ice. I know that has not turned like too much of an advantage in 2011, however this time with the WC being played in CZE the players get the advantage without the media circus and drama surrounding home WC in Slovakia (or well at least less of it).

Tatar and Jurco arrive at the World Cup

Tatar - Reway - Gaborik
Nagy - Handzus - Panik
Dano - Kopecky - Jurco
Miklik - Viedensky - Sykora
Tybor, Marcinko

Chára - Graňák
Sekera - Sersen
Meszároš - Baranka
Ďaloga - Mikuš

Springfield suffered a big 4-1 loss to Worchester yesterday which will really hurt their playoff chances. Their percent chance of making the playoffs went from 13 percent to 7 percent according to most oddsmakers.:)

looks very promissing this year, maybe chara joins too, as boston bruins will be very difficult now to get PO..

Slováci v boji o play-off:

ISTOTA POSTUPU (5): Marián Hossa (Chicago), Tomáš Tatar (Detroit), Tomáš Jurčo (Detroit), Ľubomír ViÅ¡ňovský (NY Islanders), Jaroslav Halák (NY Islanders)

NEPOSTÚPIA (7): Marián Gáborík (Los Angeles), Andrej Sekera (Los Angeles), Marko Daňo (Columbus), Richard Pánik (Toronto), Andrej MeszároÅ¡ (Buffalo), Tomáš Kopecký (Florida), Martin Marinčin (Edmonton)

V HRE O POSTUP (1): Zdeno Chára (Boston)

After two games against the Czechs.

OUT: G Branislav Konrad, D Lukas Kozak, D Karol Sloboda
IN: G Marek Ciliak, D Marek Daloga, D Juraj Mikus

We should hear final word on whether Gaborik will join the team this weekend.

We are going to miss Sekera so much. Our defense was horrible in the two games against the Czechs. Well, the same can be said about the offense, but I think we should be more worried about the D.

great news with marian. i have a good feeling this year to make it to the medals game...

..yes, and slovak hokej association just confirmed officially at facebook
