Drouin-McDavid-MacKinnon

...If only.

Not sure about Drouin, but those 2 could form a potential kid line come . . .

Duclair - McDavid - Lazar
Domi - Reinhart - Ritchie
Dal Colle - Petan - Virtanen
Paul - Fabbri - Baptiste
Gauthier

Nurse - Morrissey
Bigras - Theodore
Morin - Bowey
Fleury

Comrie
Fucale

Good balance of size, speed and skill all through the lineup.

I think Lazar and Duclair will be the NHL kids that are sent down. If they aren't sent down I'd have Klimchuk and Dickinson as the replacements.

Gauthier? Really?

Other than Dumba, he is probably the worst player I've ever seen play for Canada. Maybe he'll be better on the smaller ice surface with his cement feet.

Probably a near-lock because he played on the team last year and Team Canada looks like it lacks size this year.

Canada's not going to win too much politics and selections based on "hype" or draft position it's bs.

No disrespect to Ritchie or Virtanen or Lawson Crouse but why the living hell do you pass over Mitch Marner or Dylan Strome over them?? Cause they weigh less? Cause they're younger? Not gritty enough? lol. Add in the fact that Strome has chem with McDavid.

This has been going on for a while players making it on hype and with this attitude we can't and won't win. I honestly think Sweden will win it. They actually made wise selections. As a leaf fan I honestly think we don't deserve to win it and I wouldn't mind Sweden winning and Nylander scoring the GWG

He's always been a shutdown D first, the big point production is new this year. He's 5th in the entire WHL in scoring, and leads his team. 1st in D scoring in the WHL, 6 points a head of #2. How the heck did you come to form either of these opinions?

sorry for the late reply. I've read 4 draft reports on Hicketts and only 1 suggested that he was anything more a PMD and none suggested he was a shutdown D.

So i made my basis on those scouting reports since I have not seen him play.

Basically would have

Dal Colle - McDavid - Point
Fabbri - Reinhart - Ho-Sang
Domi - Petan - Marner
Paul - Dauphin - Hawryluk
Chartier

instead of

Dal Colle - McDavid - Point
Fabbri - Reinhart - Virtanen
Domi - Petan - Klimchuk
Paul - Gauthier - Ritchie
Chartier

No politics were involved, my only guess is that because this team might not have enough "size" or power forwards. Strome isn't a 4th line guy, they think Crouse fills the role better in the bottom 6 better than Strome, Marner is too small and doesn't help with the lack of size. That's my guess. Doubt Crouse makes the team anyway.

I don't really see a lack of size anyways, Ritchie, Virtanen, Dickinson, Paul all are heavy players, the only small players are Fabbri, Point, Petan. Domi is an aggressive player, can't mistake Domi as a weak player, the defence is punishing. Nurse, Bowey, Morin, Heatherington, Sanheim all are physical, big defencemen.

Lol at all the Leaf fans throwing Gauthier in there like there's actually a chance.

There's a good chance Gauthier will be on the team, he seems like a better player than last season. He seems more efficient this season and his skating is better, he's quicker, more intense and aggressive. He's still the same type of player, a defensive centre but he's worked on his skating and it shows when he goes after pucks, last year it seemed nobody liked Gauthier because he wasn't skilled enough or fast enough to play well he's faster this season but skill wise I'd say he's the same type of player we'll see in pro.

WTF Joe Hicketts isnt a shutdown D...hes always been an offensive pmd.

I've seen him play dozens of times. He is an excellent 2-way defender. His defensive skills have always been fantastic and this season (and last year before he got injured) his offensive skills have taken a major step. He would not look remotely out of place on this team. I would have him quarterbacking the powerplay - I think that is where he is at his best.

PP: Domi - McDavid - Reinhart
Virtanen - Hicketts

I really hope Gauthier is cut. He was so bad last year I cringed every time he was on the ice.

Gauthier was sooooo bad winning faceoffs over and over in the last minute of play to ensure a Canada win in the quarters or whichever round was before they got kicked out.

The dude has a role on the team, and he is very good at that role. Especially with Horvat not in the picture. I don't think there is any chance he isn't on the roster, unless he just somehow forgets how to count at camp. He was named captain of the SS roster ffs.

Yeah okay two way dman. Thats a BIG difference from a primarily shutdown dman.

I'm not sure how much of the scouting staff has been changed but this is the first World Juniors without Brad Pascall and Bob Nicholson leading the way. We now have Ryan Jankowski and Tom Renney as the head guys. It's a new regime, we're going to see some changes.

Neither had any involvement in the selection of junior teams nor does Tom Renny have any role in the selection of players; Ryan Jankowski has already been the chief scout for several junior tournaments, U18, U20 and hasn't delivered results. Jankowski along with Scott Salmond (HC bureaucrat with questionable hockey knowledge) Bruce Hamilton (WHL) and Sean Burke (NHL although I fail to see what info he can provide on CHL players from his retirement home in Arizona) are the ones in charge of player selection. And so far, I haven't seen any evidence that Hockey Canada has learned anything from their past failures. but I'll be sure to voice my opinion on the team once the final roster is chosen by the head idiots in charge.

of course... given the choice, ALMOST ALL would opt to stay in the NHL. That close to realizing your NHL dream, your head checks out of junior hockey. Hell, even some players still in junior have checked out of junior hockey and are just serving time until the day comes to collect their pro salaries.

Obviously that is implied, but not many say they would rather not go, publicly. At least he is the first I heard out of the eligible players come out and say it frankly. I brought it up because ray ferraro was on tsn 1040 and was skeptical of wether tampa will be sending him if a player feels that way.

Guess we will find out.

Ray also said he knows ottowa is strongly considering it with lazar, and he said tampa will to, but the reason why I posted this is due to ray's comments "drouin was the one guy who came out and said he would rather not go, I would be careful with that, if he goes and does not want to be there, and hes dragging his lip around, its not going to do anyone anygood." Those were ray's comments not mine.

Sportsnet central also did a segment on the world juniors doubting drouin will be present for team canada and john shannon claimed tampa will be pressured to let drouin go but he does not see it happening. He claimed the only team thats 50/50 is the rangers regarding duclair.

I'm really starting to get the feeling that Lazar will get loaned for the tourney. I think Ottawa would really like it for him to go down and start playing some big minutes against lesser competition and hope it gives his some confidence to get his scoring going.

politics are always involved when it comes to Hockey Canada. politics, ageism and incompetence = 5 year drought.
