Agree about Schmaltz, hoping he is still on the board when we pick. I know he is ranked lower, but I see him going around the 15th pick.

No way he goes 15. I'd love it if he did. Better our chances for McCann, Larkin or Tuch. Hoping for Schmaltz at 33rd

I don't know - I think he'll still be there at 33. The big question is does anyone think there will be another "Jankowksi" in this draft...someone a team drafts that wasn't expected to be a 1st rounder?

That pause before naming Ekblad was anticlimactic. Once Tallon took the stage and no trade was announced, we all knew the pick.

A dman goes number 1 overall! I think it's the right decision. I haven't really watched much of Ekblad because I knew we wouldn't be in a position to select him, but everyone says he's steady as a rock with a lot of talent.

The advantage of picking Ekblad is that he is pretty much "can't miss" like every other defenseman taken first overall.

Yea. He is a borderline franchise player and definitely a top pairing D. That was the best pick. Not sure what they turned down in trade, but he will be solid for years to come. Florida has some good young talent.
