That's easy to say when watching countless replays. Real time I would have made the same call.
Robben sold it well. Unfortunately, referees don't have the benefit of instant replay.
Robben has a history though and he even displayed that for much of this game, flopping like a fish when touched. I don't give him the benefit of the doubt there. Sorry.
United are in good hands with Van Gaal. He made tactical adjustments in the second half and it worked. He's been doing that all tournament. Go Oranje!!!

So thrilled we beat Mexico but the way we did it, hurts my eyes. The dive by Robben was ridiculous. It got us the win, but we should have had a penalty in the first half when Robben was tackled.

In Italy, have been trying to get into the World Cup. The ending of the Netherlands-Mexico game is why I just don't think I will ever be able to really love the sport. That is awful. I can't believe they would let a WC elimination game end that way. Beyond the fact that it was a dive...just that there is no leeway in calling a PK. What is the success rate for PKs? 90%? Off a foul on a non-scoring play. Terrible way to end it.
That said, love the passion of soccer fans. Dude at the table next to me was so excited when the Netherlands scored he went to smash his fist on the table and just shattered his glass instead. Wrist sliced open. Tried to play it cool like he was fine...GF trying to pretend she doesn't know him.
Beautiful game. Some of the side BS really is too much at times.

Couldnt disagree more. They have 120 minutes+ to decide the game and no bench to alternate from like in hockey.
And the entertainment!!!!!!!
