Maybe, but they would learn fast. Just like in soccer, it's all about weighing up risk vs. benefit. As long as a yellow is the worst you could get, while being rewarded a penalty kick is possible, it's a net positive and diving is worth the risk. Likewise in hockey, where usually the worst result for embellishment is matching minors.

In this game, Sunderland's strategy seemed to be to have the keeper crush the ball downfield towards Jozy where he was to win it and dish it off. He was responsible for 2 goals in a 4-1 win for Sunderland, including drawing a PK. They played off him very well. US is thin up front for sure. Sure wish Eddie Johnson was on the squad. They could really use him now.

It's definitely on the bucket list. I'm going to Barcelona, actually next week an am going to tour Camp Nou.. Obviously no games, unfortunately, but nonetheless, I"m excited. I'll be on a cruise for the final which should be a cool experience, especially it being in Europe.

Stadium of Light is in a very industrial area. I'd imagine the fans are nuts. I'm actually friends with a few guys that I met on Twitter that have invited me to stay over an go to a game if I can make it there. Sounds crazy, I know but EPL fans are nuts and just love other fans of their team(s). I can't wait to someday get there, maybe it'll be my trip for next year.

I can only agree on the discussion that diving should result in suspensions retroactively. As it should in hockey, even though it's far, far worse in football. It's slowly destroying the integrity of the entire sport.

Yes, putting a chip in a ball is much easier for soccer, since the ball will completely cross the goal line at the same time no matter how the ball is oriented. That doesn't hold true for a puck. A puck will completely cross the goal line at different times depending on how it's oriented. That's a very difficult task to engineer something to detect that and not change the weight/flight characteristics of the puck.
