We picked up Tropp this past season off of waivers from Buffalo.
Craig was on a minor league deal with Springfield and then CBJ signed him to a two-year deal (last year, I believe)...so I guess technically he was acquired via FA?

Thank you. I will just count them both as FA.

When that path leads to a SC final or thereabouts I'll agree 100% it is the right way to go. Until then a FA here and there would definitely help. Don't get me wrong I think our roster is a playoff contender caliber team and from where we were 2 years ago pretty damn good. I just think we needed to add an established top 6 forward (preferably RW).

I would guess the LAK acquired their players in a pretty similar way.

Boston has 18 players on roster with $1.6m in cap room...

here's a 2nd and a 3rd, send us Eriksson and the rights to Riley Smith

That would never happen.....Essentially trading Seguin for a couple of picks for them.

I would go Atkinson + Pick + Mid prospect for Eriksson

At best thats a draw. Atkinson should be looking at top 6 minutes this season. The only way i trade Atkinson or AA is a sure fire improvement over them. And while Eriksson may be good, hes not THAT much better.

I'd actually do a 2nd and straight up for Smith's rights. That kid is gonna be a force on the right wing and while that hot streak inflated his point total he is going to be a very dangerous winger on both ends of the ice.

Pretty sure they're just going to deal their overpaid depth guys like Chris Kelly and Johnny Boychuck rather then dump top 6 forwards for draft picks...

This was at the deadline, but I remember reading somewhere there was a deal with Boston in the works that was something like JJ+Cam+Rycel+pick for Lucic and Krecji. I forget the exact deal, but it was for Lucic and Krecji I do remember that.

as pointed out, they'll prob just dump their overpaid players they don't want, but I'm not offering up much of anything useful to help them out...

Philly will be ok once they put Pronger on LTIR...

and Washington is looking for suitors for Mike Green so they'll be ok

leaves Bos and Chi as the top targets for picking off players

I'm being lazy and bringing this up soley because of the Finnish connection but I wonder if we're making a run at Petri Kontiola

No disrespect to Jarmo, but Hartnell isn't a FA. You also lost a 4th rounder and Umberger. When you pick up a UFA, you generally don't lose anything with the signing.

Thank you! That's a disingenuous thing for Jarmo to say. You didn't get a "free agent" in Hartnell, you got a return on a trade that you clearly are happy about. I'm not advocating going after a big free agent, I think the team isn't too bad as is, but come on. You don't get free agents in a trade.

C'mon guys are we simply looking to pick at this point? Of course he wasn't a Free Agent but can't you get the nuance of what he was saying? He also said he was protecting the future with the Gaborik trade. That wasn't literal either. He is Finnish and may not communicate things 100% of the way North Americans might.

I think we've gone plaid!

Don't know if he would really slot into anywhere in the line-up at the moment. Creative and skilled in his best form but just how skilled... Perhaps he could centre NHL third line.

You think I don't understand that? But how big of a get is Hartnell? There were certainly bigger ones out there. Again, I don't want one with the way yesterday went down, and with the way our roster is developing. But to me this is more of Jarmo's arrogance.

What's simple is that Hartnell is not a free agent acquisition and had nothing whatever to do with July 1st or all the free agency hullaballoo yesterday. We traded for Hartnell

I'm saying let's err on the side of clarity. And Jarmo's English is superb, he knew full well he was deflating perceived criticisms regarding not being active in free agency by saying he got the equivalent of a free agent. It's as political as it is nuanced, can't you see that?

He's a different kind of player and in the ways that he's a different player, he is much better than Atkinson.

I say that, at this point in Atkinsons development, that is a large upgrade.

#Sens announce they’ve signed UFA Carter Camper, who #CBJ acquired in trade with Boston midway through last season.
