IIHF is a founding member. It is de facto a IIHF thing. And Fasel is the guy behind it.

No, he isn't. IIHF vice secretary Kalervo Kummola said during last year's Worlds that the new CHL is a project driven by the clubs, IIHF would just be a partner. So no, it is not a "IIHF thing" and Fasel is not behind it. If you continue to claim otherwise, it will be just sabotaging the discussion and/or trolling.

Thats why I think that the Swedish fans will grow into the league. I remember, around 10 years past or so (as the article says), the swedish teams were looking into chances to grow european hockey. Today Linköping had 6127 people in the stands against Pardubice. I hope this becomes the norm, rather than an exception, in Finland as well!

Quote from Swedish section

Linköping's first game this Friday is sold out. But it's the official re-opening under the new name and tickets are set to 10SEK (yes, I typed the correctly)..... and SAAB have the entire upper floor for their employees. Around 4000 tickets are sold for the Sunday game (same price).

Don't expect those numbers. Getting people to go it the tickets are 1€ instead of 20-50€ isn't that difficult.

Ah, okay. It's the same for other teams as well I guess, for example, HIFK is selling their games for 10€ a ticket, 5€ if you have the fanclub card or a season ticket.

All clubs participating are expecting to make a loss this first year. Frölunda has stated that it will take time and that they are patient. They've made room in their budget and calculated a return first after 5 years. Atleast that's what I could make out.

thats cheap

Växjö is charging us 250 SEK (27 euro) seat and 130 SEK for a stand ticket. Pretty expensive compared to rest

Would have been fun seeing last season Skellefteå, they would seriously humiliate any team in this tournament. I have watched a few games and I have to say I'm already tired of it. People doesn't even know the existence of this tournament, that's probably one reason there is so many empty seats. Get rid of this garbage and Euro Hockey Tour as well for that matter.

Servette Geneva is charging 16,50 CHF ... around 13EURO cheapest seat.

Slightly cheaper than a regular Swiss league game.
That's fair !

If people had this view then tournaments like the football champions league would of never existed. The tournament started 3 days, anyone expecting it to be success overnight is in dreamland. This tournament can't by judged now but in 3/4 years time when it has had time to establish itself. Going by the views of some fans in Sweden, they most hope their football teams never qualify for the champions league, must hate that tournament

Fans will accept this tournament when its prestige is higher. Winning the football champions league is bigger and more prestigeful than winning any football league in the world. The hockey champions league has to get to the point where it's worth the risk of injury to win games. It's not there now, but as you said, give it 3-5 years.

The topscorer shirts are so confusing

IF this format survives 5-10 years then there will be some tradition and crowd interest about it. We'll see in time.

Great site? It's one of the most amateurish professional websites I've every visited. It's horrendous.

Overstatement. They aren't that bad.. hockey league sites need to have lots of information and they can't be on the fashionish one page scroll -layout. While the level of the graphics arent most modern, which also goes for league logo, the outlooks are clear to read and while not apple-ish minimalist, still not overfilled with graphical stuff.

champions hockey league homepage without statistics it is like no page at all... imho

What is your countries league rule re import players / is there any limitation?

For example, Briançon seems to have nearly as many foreign nationals as french players while Tappara only has 3. Seems logical that there are less non-Finnish players given the country's depth but is that a consequence of talent available or a limitation set by the Liiga? Curious about the other leagues too.
